Jaguars G Brandon Scherff (abdomen) did not practice Tuesday.
It’s likely just a rest day for Scherff, who has been listed with this injury the last few weeks and got in only limited practices all of last week, but with Luke Fortner (back) also suddenly on the injury report this could become a dicey situation for Jacksonville’s interior offensive line if more absences pile up. There’s no reason for concern just yet.

  • PHI Running Back #26

Eagles signed Saquon Barkley to a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #98
    Seahawks released DT Roy Robertson-Harris.
Robertson-Harris kicked off trade deadline season by coming over from the Jaguars in mid-October. His playing time dwindled for Seattle, as he didn’t play more than 20 defensive snaps in a game once after Week 9. Robertson-Harris was also used more as an edge player in Seattle than he ever had been in his other stops. The release saves Seattle $6 million in cap space. Robertson-Harris will look to revive his career elsewhere in his age-32 season, preferably somewhere where he can rush the passer from the interior again.
  • Seahawks released S Rayshawn Jenkins.
Seattle will save just $2.5 million against the cap with this move. They had given Jenkins permission to seek a trade, but apparently nothing materialized. The 31-year-old was moved into a sub role with the Seahawks after Week 6 and simply wasn’t up to the run responsibilities he had been in his last few years with the Jaguars. He’s probably more suited for a backup role at this stage of his career, but it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he competed for a starting role in 2025.
  • FA Defensive End #55
    Seahawks released DL Dre’Mont Jones.
The Jones release, which was rumored in February, frees up $11.572 million in cap space for Seattle. Jones, entering his age-28 season, has been more adequate than disastrous for Seattle. He’s probably got a chance to find a starter role elsewhere, and at worst could end up as part of a rotation. His PFF grades for 2023 and 2024 were 61.7 and 54.3, respectively. Denver had more success using him on the inside earlier in his career, and Jones could be a better fit in that role going forward.
  • HOU Guard #76
The Houston Chronicle’s Jon Alexander reports the Texans are not expected to pick up G Kenyon Green’s fifth-year option.
Green was disastrous in pass blocking early in the season. Hwas so mistrusted by the coaching staff that after returning from a shoulder injury in December Green never saw another rep as a starter. Green has full-season PFF grades of 37.7 (2022) and 38.6 (2024) buttressing a lost season due to knee surgery and is not a lock to make the Texans 53-man roster in 2025.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #88
ESPN’s Todd Archer reports the Cowboys have restructured CeeDee Lamb’s contract to create $20 million of salary-cap space.
Lamb’s base salary of $26.85 million will be cut thoroughly, adding money on to future years of his contract as a signing bonus as NFL team’s traditionally do. This could be a precursor to an aggressive Cowboys move. But with Dallas currently hanging just barely under the cap before the Osa Odighizuwa extension hits the books officially, it could also just be the Cowboys creating operating room for the beginning of the offseason.
  • MIN Quarterback #14
ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan reports Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson are “near the top of the Giants list” for veteran quarterback options.
The plan appears to be for the Giants to double-dip with a veteran at quarterback as well as adding a rookie quarterback, be it Cam Ward in a potential trade-up or someone else later in the draft. Darnold seems likely to have a lot of interest on the free agent market. He’s been tied to the Giants, Titans, Raiders, and a return to Minnesota. Wilson’s rumored market has been pretty cold in comparison, and it’s possible that he is the fallback plan in New York. Wilson did visit the Giants in 2024 before signing with Pittsburgh. Aaron Rodgers was mentioned only as a “possibility” by Ranaan, perhaps throwing some cold water on that scenario. It is clear the Giants will absolutely remodel the quarterback room this offseason.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #98
KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports the Texans are interested in signing DT Sheldon Rankins.
Rankins was with the Texans in 2023 and Houston lost a bidding war with the Bengals in the 2024 offseason to bring him back. After being released by the Bengals following a disappointing 2024 season where he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list, it appears the Texans believe the veteran still has something left entering his age-31 season. Wilson reports that Rankins has interest from “multiple NFL teams” and thus, he may get a real contract.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #17
    Jets released WR Davante Adams.
Apparently nobody was biting on New York’s trade calls over the weekend. Adams’ release will free up roughly $30 million in cap space while leaving a $8 million dead money hit on the Jets’ books. Most of the speculation to date has been on Adams either joining forces with Aaron Rodgers in a new locale or returning the west coast. Adams becomes clearly the No. 1 wideout on the market even entering his age-33 season, coming off a 85/1063/8 season in 14 games split between the Raiders and Jets. There should be plenty of interest in his services, and because he was released, he will not count against the NFL’s compensatory draft pick formula for the signing team.
  • CHI Guard #72
Rams traded LG Jonah Jackson to the Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round draft pick.
Jackson had been given permission to seek a trade after signing a three-year deal worth $51 million last offseason. Jackson started one game at center for the Rams after missing the first eight weeks of the regular season with a nagging shoulder injury. In Chicago, Jackson will join an offensive line graded by Pro Football Focus as last year’s eighth best pass blocking unit. He’ll rejoin Ben Johnson, who was Detroit’s offensive coordinator when Jackson played for the Lions in 2021. The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue reports the Bears will take on Jackson’s salary.
