Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports the Browns have requested permission to interview Titans’ defensive assistant Jim Schwartz for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
Schwartz is one of the more decorated coaching candidates in the league, having spent five seasons as the Lions’ head coach (2009-2013) while also serving as defensive coordinator for the Titans, Bills, and Eagles before rejoining the Titans as a defensive assistant in 2021. Schwartz has helped lead several top-10 defenses during his time in the NFL and has coached up several All-Pro and Pro Bowl defensive linemen in his career.

Saints restructured QB Derek Carr’s contract, keeping him in New Orleans.
Carr will make $40 million in 2025 and remain with the team likely through the 2026 season, per his current contract. The team had a potential out this offseason but it would have incurred a massive $50 million cap hit. Instead, Carr returns to the Saints on a restructured deal to help the organization prepare for the upcoming free agency window.
  • BAL Tackle #79
Ravens signed OT Ronnie Stanley to a three-year, $60 million contract.
One of the game’s top tackles is now being paid as such, with the $20 million average annual value placing him in the top 10 at the position. The team entered the offseason “confident” they could re-sign their stud tackle, making good on the promise made earlier this year. Even so, Stanley played a full schedule for the first time in his career in 2024. The deal includes a massive $44 million in guaranteed money over the next three seasons.
  • CAR Center #63
    Panthers re-signed C Austin Corbett to a one-year contract.
That now gives the Panthers five returning starters along an offensive line that was widely regarded as the strength of their offense a season ago. The terms of the contract were not yet made available. The longtime starter missed most of the 2024 season after suffering a torn bicep in Week 5.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #18
Former Chargers K Ty Long announces retirement.
Long appeared in 49 professional contests with the Chargers between 2019 and 2021, mostly serving as the team’s punter. He converted seven of nine field goals and all nine extra point attempts while filling in for injuries during the 2019 season.
  • NYG Punter #6
Giants signed P Jamie Gillan to a three-year, $10.2 million contract.
The international superstar punter now stands as the NFL’s seventh-highest paid punter, re-signing with the Giants prior to hitting free agency next week. The six-year veteran is now under team control through the 2027 season.
  • MIA Cornerback #4
Dolphins placed the right-of-first-refusal tender on CB Kader Kohou.
Kohou currently stands as a restricted free agent after finishing the final year on his rookie contract. The Dolphins will now have the ability to match any offer he receives once free agency opens next week.
  • DET Defensive End #92
Lions signed DE Marcus Davenport to a one-year, $4.75 million contract.
Davenport missed most of the previous two seasons but returns to the Lions on a bargain contract to chase another Super Bowl. The once dominant defensive end has experienced numerous setbacks since recording nine sacks in 2021, likeliest to contribute in a complementary role on passing downs moving forward.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks told reporters he is “fully healthy and have nothing to hide.”
Cooks also relayed that he is “expecting a good free agency... but I’m also open to returning to Dallas.” Now 31 years old and healthy after missing seven games in 2024, Cooks appears primed to contribute in a complementary capacity after serving as a primary option earlier in his career. He finished the quote by hinting that his relationship with the players in Dallas is good but added, “I would love to play for the Cowboys, at the same time they have to use me right. I don’t think they fully used my to my strengths.”
  • BUF Defensive End #50
Bills signed EDGE Greg Rousseau to a four-year, $80 million contract extension.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal includes $54 million guaranteed. The Bills wasted no time in extended their defensive end, doing so prior to the final year on his rookie contract. The extension will now tie Rousseau to the Bills through his age-29 season. Rousseau has played three seasons for the Bills after opting out of the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, amassing 129 tackles, 30 tackles for a loss, and 17 sacks in his time with the team.
  • BUF Center #69
Bills signed LS Reid Ferguson to a four-year contract extension.
Ferguson, Buffalo’s longest tenured player, will now be under team control through the 2029 season. He initially joined the Bills as a undrafted free agent in 2016, with his new deal potentially keeping him in a Bill’s uniform for 14 seasons.
