  • FA Safety #20
Titans placed S A.J. Moore on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.
Moore has yet to officially be placed on injured reserve, but Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky confirmed his season is over. A reserve safety, Moore gets paid to be a core special teamer. 27 in December, Moore could have trouble securing a 53-man roster spot in 2023.

  • WAS Defensive Back #13
Emmanuel Forbes will undergo surgery to repair a torn UCL in his thumb Friday.
Forbes injured his thumb during Week 1 against the Buccaneers, and while he was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, the 2023 first-round selection will go under the knife Friday. It’s not known how much time Forbes will miss at this point, but it seems probable that a surgery like this will cause a multi-week absense.
  • CLE Tackle #71
Browns LT Jedrick Wills (knee) return to practice Thursday.
Wills missed Week 1 as he recovers from his MCL injury and wasn’t able to practice Wednesday, but the 2020 first-round selection was able to get on the field for Thursday’s session. Not only was he able to practice, but he also wasn’t wearing the brace he had been wearing previously. There’s no guarantee that Wills plays in Week 2 against the Jaguars, but obviously this is a trend in the right direction.
  • HOU Tight End #86
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) is not practicing Thursday.
That makes back-to-back missed practices for Schultz. It seems more likely that tight end is not going to be available for Week 2 against the Broncos, which means that Cade Stover and Brevin Jordan will be C.J. Stroud’s targets at the tight end position for that contest.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Tee Higgins (hamstring) is not participating in practice Thursday ahead of Week 2 against the Chiefs.
Higgins is in street clothes and will head to the rehab field. The wideout missed Week 1 with his hamstring injury, and the 25-year-old seems to be trending towards missing Sunday’s battle with KC as well. If Higgins can’t go, Andrei Iosivas will likely get the start for the Bengals.
  • NE Guard #62
Sidy Sow wasn’t spotted for the media-access portion of practice Thursday.
It looks like Sow will miss another week of action because of his hip injury. Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that Michael Jordan will likely be elevated from the practice squad again for Week 2 against the Seahawks, and likely start at left guard in Sow’s absence.
  • GB Quarterback #10
Jordan Love (knee) is not practicing Thursday ahead of Week 2’s game against the Colts.
No surprise here, but still worth mentioning after Packers HC Matt LaFleur told reporters that the door was “open” to Love playing Thursday. That obviously seemed like nonsense at the time, and it appears to remain so. Malik Willis will get the start in Week 2 against the Colts and even with a strong group of players to throw the ball to, there’s more risk in that from a fantasy standpoint than reward.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Josh Downs (ankle) was spotted in the open portion of Thursday’s practice for the Colts.
Downs has now been able to practice on back-to-back days, which seems like a good sign for the talented widout. Fantasy managers should wait for the injury report before getting too excited about potentially putting the 23-year-old in their lineup, but at the very least, it does appear likely that Downs will be able to return in the coming weeks.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
Hollywood Brown (shoulder) is not practicing Thursday.
It seems very unlikely that Brown will be able to play against the Bengals in Week 2 at this point after initial optimism that he may be able to suit up for that contest. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy will continue to be the top wideouts for Patrick Mahomes against the Cincinnati secondary.
  • NYG Wide Receiver #86
Giants WR Darius Slayton (concussion) is practicing in a non-contact jersey Thursday.
Slayton didn’t practice Wednesday as he works his way through the concussion protocol, but the 27-year-old veteran will be able to get a session in before Week 2’s game against the Commanders. If Slayton isn’t able to go, Jalin Hyatt will operate as the starter in the anemic New York passing attack.
  • DAL Tight End #87
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy told reporters that Jake Ferguson (knee) is doing rehab work Wednesday.
McCarthy was unsure if Ferguson would be available for practice Wednesday. He’s working with the “return to play” group, but he’ll likely need to be able to return to an official practice before he can play. If Ferguson can’t go, it’ll be Luke Schoonmaker that sees the overwhelming majority of snaps/targets from the tight end position.
