Eagles selected Southern Methodist TE Grant Calcaterra with the No. 198 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Calcaterra (6'4/241) retired after three years at Oklahoma due to multiple concussions. He decided to give it another go in 2021, however, transferring to SMU where he put up a 38-465-4 receiving line. He showed well at the Combine with a 4.62 40, and he posted a 32.5-inch vertical at his Pro Day. There are big questions about his health, and those almost certainly hurt his draft stock. That said, he has the size, speed, and receiving ability to make an impact as a pass-catching tight end. He will spend the first few years of his career as Dallas Goedert’s backup.
