The 49ers selected Street in the fourth round of the 2018 draft, and he emerged in 2021 as a decent pass rusher, recording 19 tackles, three sacks, four hits, and 12 hurries. Street played in all 20 of the 49ers games, including the playoffs. He also played on Special Teams in kick blocking packages. Entering his age-26 season, Street is likely to find another home as a rotational lineman and Special Teams contributor.

In other words, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him on the injury report this week. Shanahan said much the same thing about George Kittle’s hamstring after Week 10, before he missed Week 11. We wouldn’t bet on Purdy missing a game, to be clear, but this should at least open the door to some question about his Week 12 status.

Kittle was officially questionable last week with the hamstring injury, and was supposedly going to test it in pre-game workouts but was declared inactive without even getting on the field before the game. This is good news, but limited practices won’t exactly bring us any closer to a conviction that Kittle will play in Week 12.

That’s right, they’re desperate enough to keep Daniel Jones from playing another snap that they needed to make sure to cover the bases and threaten us with Boyle snaps. Boyle threw for 153 scoreless yards in two relief appearances for the Dolphins earlier this year after being with the Texans in training camp. If you were looking for someone to make Malik Nabers interesting, this is not that guy.

He had to be activated by tomorrow or miss the remainder of the season. The former Browns general manager likely has no shot at getting a full-time job and, with the trade deadline passing, has little way to make an impact on this roster. He ran the Browns from 2005-2008 and has mostly been an executive or consultant since. He’s the guy who will check to make sure any move he wants to make is cool with Aaron Rodgers for the next seven weeks.

Turner had some big plays in Week 11’s loss to the Chargers and was just starting to round in to form. It’s a tough loss for a defense that is already best described as beleaguered.

Douglas is out after five and a half seasons as New York’s general manager. It hardly comes as a shock after the front office’s gamble on 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers turned out disastrously on every front. The Jets are 3-8 in another lost season without any clear path forward outside a total teardown and years-long rebuild. Douglas bet on Rodgers and lost badly. The Jets were 30-64 with Douglas as GM. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the team’s GM search would begin immediately.

Fields in Week 11 had two rushes for 17 yards after weeks of Steelers coaches talking up a Fields rushing package. Smith said Fields would have had more usage against Baltimore if the Steelers had not stalled out on several first half drives. He stressed that the team does not see Fields as a gadget player. “We have two starting quarterbacks,” Smith said Tuesday. “It’s a very unique situation.” More usage for Fields — especially in the red zone — could make Russell Wilson unviable in one-quarterback fantasy formats.
