Chiefs signed S Justin Reid, formerly of the Texans, to a three-year, $31.5 million contract.
With Tyrann Mathieu widely expected to walk in free agency, Reid arrives as the Honey Badger’s replacement. The No. 68 overall pick of the 2018 draft, Reid has been starting since his rookie year. He was better in 2018-19 before a team-wide malaise took hold of the Texans in 2020-21. Rather amazingly, Reid has only one career pick, but he has had good seasons both in coverage and as a run defender. He just hasn’t put it all together in a while. The Chiefs clearly believe he will be able to do so in a much better environment.
