Texans signed LB Tae Davis to a one-year contract.
Davis missed all of last season with an undisclosed injury, spending the entire campaign on IR. The Texans have Kamu Grugier-Hill, Neville Hewitt, Christian Kirksey, and Eric Wilson as free agents at interior linebacker. Davis probably won’t be in the conversation to start if they re-sign some of those players, but he should remain good special-teams depth.

  • CLE Guard #77

Browns activated G Wyatt Teller (knee) off injured reserve.
A Pro Bowl guard, Teller could return to the Browns starting lineup as soon as Week 8 against the Ravens. Teller was the team’s best run-blocking offensive lineman before his Week 3 injury against the Giants. Teller’s return should be a boost for Nick Chubb and the Browns’ rushing attack.
  • WAS Quarterback #5
Jayden Daniels (ribs) did not practice Wednesday.
Washington head coach Dan Quinn said the team would be cautious with their superstar rookie QB. “The practice field is the next step of that,” Quinn said. “We want to make sure he can fully express himself and do all the things that he does [on the field]. ... Be him, fully turnt up.” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Tuesday that Daniels, who suffered the injury in Week 7 against the Panthers, was “very much in doubt” for Week 8 against the Bears. If Daniels can’t practice on Thursday or Friday, Marcus Mariota will likely get the start against a tough Chicago defense.
  • TEN Linebacker #17
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Seahawks traded LB Jerome Baker and a fourth-round draft pick to the Titans in exchange for LB Ernest Jones IV.
The Titans, in fire sale mode amid another lost season, are clearly looking to acquire future draft picks. They dealt Jones to the Seahawks after trading for him in the summer. Jones will join a Seattle defense graded by Pro Football Focus as the NFL’s 15th best unit. Baker, in his seventh NFL season, had 30 tackles and two tackles for a loss this season in Seattle.
  • CLE Running Back #34
Jerome Ford (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Ford continues to miss time with his hamstring injury. He sat out Week 7 and could miss the team’s Week 8 game against Baltimore. Nick Chubb last week saw 11 of the Browns’ 15 running back carries against the Bengals and should see more touches going forward.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #19
Panthers opened the 21-day practice window for Adam Thielen (hamstring).
Thielen has been sidelined with the hamstring injury since Week 4. He had eight receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ first three games, with Bryce Young under center. Thielen, who demonstrated chemistry with Andy Dalton early in the 2023 season, could be fantasy relevant in deeper PPR formats upon his return. Diontae Johnson will likely continue operating as the team’s No. 1 wideout.
  • CLE Offensive Coordinator
Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey will take over play calling duties.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced the change on Wednesday morning ahead of Cleveland’s Week 8 game against the Ravens. The Browns, with now-injured Deshaun Watson under center, were one of the least productive offenses in the NFL. They are dead last in offensive success rate and third worst in EPA per play. Only the Raiders and Dolphins have been worse. Dorsey, fired as Bills OC in 2023, is known to lean on the pass game. It could be a positive for Cleveland pass catchers, including David Njoku and Jerry Jeudy.
  • BAL Running Back #34
Ravens opened the 21-day practice window for RB Keaton Mitchell.
Mitchell has been on the PUP list after sustaining a major knee injury in the middle of the 2023 season. Mitchell was productive in limited opportunity during his rookie season, rushing for 396 yards and four touchdowns on just 47 attempts over eight games. He also had 93 yards on a mere nine receptions. Mitchell, when he returns to the Baltimore offense, could cut into Justice Hill’s snaps as the team’s primary pass-catching back.
  • IND Defensive Tackle #99
Colts opened the 21-day practice window for DL DeForest Buckner (ankle).
The standout defensive end hasn’t played since Week 2, when he suffered a serious ankle injury. The Colts defense without Buckner has been one of the worst in the NFL this season, especially against opposing rushing attacks. Buckner could return as soon as Week 8 against Houston.
  • IND Running Back #28
Jonathan Taylor (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Monday that he was optimistic Taylor would practice this week after missing three games with a severe ankle injury. Fantasy managers can tentatively expect to have Taylor back in Week 8 against the Texans, who allow the league’s seventh lowest rushing success rate. The Colts could ease Taylor back into the fold with a lighter-than-usual workload though.
  • NYJ Center #65
Jets placed C Xavier Newman (neck) on injured reserve.
Newman, a rotational center, was carried off on a stretcher Sunday night against the Steelers after sustaining a neck injury. He’ll miss the remainder of the season.
