NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports there were offensive “philosophical differences” between former Texans head coach David Culley and Houston brass.
Rapoport said the team wanted Culley to commit to major changes on the offensive side of the ball. Culley balked, and the team fired him after one season at the helm. The Texans also fired offensive coordinator Tim Kelly. There were other areas of concern for the Texans, including Culley’s in-game decision making and team disciplinary issues, according to Rapoport. The Texans could take a close look at Jerod Mayo, the former New England linebacker and current Patriots defensive assistant with close ties to Houston GM Nick Caserio.

  • NYJ Tight End #83
Tyler Conklin caught 6-of-9 targets for 55 yards in New York’s Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
A guaranteed TE1 line in the year of our lord 2024. Conklin didn’t get a red zone target, though he was the intended target on a deep pass at the MIN 25. Conklin will be a low-end TE1 for Week 6 as the Jets face Buffalo on Monday night.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #5
Garrett Wilson caught 13-of-22 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown in New York’s Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
Wilson looked positively Wan’Daleian early in this game, but caught a wide-open touchdown to bring the Jets within three in the fourth quarter, and had a 20-yarder on the final drive to bring up a rough average. Wilson was open on a double move for what could have been a game-winning score, but Rodgers overthrew him. If Wilson continues to get 22 targets per game, it’s hard to imagine him not returning fantasy value. But that it took so many targets just to bring him to 13/101/1 says quite a bit about how he and Aaron Rodgers remain not on the same page. He’ll be a WR2 for Week 6’s game against the Bills.
  • NYJ Running Back
Braelon Allen rushed five times for 13 yards, adding a 15-yard catch on two targets, in New York’s Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
Allen didn’t get consistent playing time, but he remained a thorn in Breece Hall’s side and looked as spry as Hall. He enters Week 6 as a touchdown-or-bust bet against the Bills on Monday Night. When the Jets aren’t able to build a positive game script, it will be tough for Allen to return fantasy value.
  • NYJ Running Back #20
Breece Hall rushed nine times for 23 yards, adding three catches for 14 yards on four targets, in New York’s Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
Hall was stuffed early and often as the Vikings built a 17-0 lead and effectively ceded 40 percent of the running back touches to Braelon Allen. The Jets offense found space for 22 targets to Garrett Wilson and four for Hall in a short-game focused comeback that asked for a lot of running back blocking. Hall shouldn’t continue to be this bad for fantasy purposes, but Allen’s continued presence is stomping out a lot of his RB1 upside.
  • NYJ Quarterback #8
Aaron Rodgers completed 29-of-54 attempts for 244 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in New York’s 23-17 Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
Rodgers briefly was headed to the blue medical tent with what appeared to be a leg injury before a roughing the punter penalty had him leap back up, but his pocket movement looked quite tenuous for the remainder of the game. The Vikings only sacked Rodgers three times, but hurried him plenty as the Jets turned to the passing game to try to dig them out of a 17-0 hole. Rodgers will remain a fantasy QB2 as the Jets try to get back to .500 on Monday Night against the Bills.
  • NYJ Cornerback #1
Sauce Gardner (concussion evaluation) returned to New York’s Week 5 game against the Vikings.

He missed about a quarter after heading to the blue medical tent and the locker room. The star cornerback is back for the Jets as they try to hold Minnesota’s offense down in the final six minutes of the game.
  • NYJ Defensive Back #1
Sauce Gardner (concussion evaluation) returned to New York’s Week 5 game against the Vikings.

  • BAL Running Back #26
Ravens RB Rasheen Ali (neck) is active for Week 5 against the Bengals.
Making his NFL debut after coming off injured reserve, fifth-round rookie Ali will try to push Justice Hill for change-of-pace/third-down touches. Inactive for the Ravens are WR Devontez Walker, WR/RS Deonte Harty, OG Andrew Vorhees, C Nick Samac, EDGE Adisa Isaac and S Beau Brade.
  • NYJ Cornerback #1
Jets CB Sauce Gardner (concussion protocol) left Week 5’s game against the Vikings.
He slammed into Quincy Williams on the line of scrimmage, leaving a wide-open Jordan Addison downfield on the play for 26 yards. Gardner seems unlikely to return after spending time in the medical tent. He’ll have an extra day to clear protocol, should he enter it, as the Jets plan to take on the Bills on Monday night next week.
  • NE Wide Receiver #84
Kendrick Bourne is active for Week 5 against the Dolphins.
Bourne, who began the season on the PUP last while recovering from a 2023 ACL injury, will make his season debut against Miami. Bourne and Ja’Lynn Polk should operate as the Patriots’ top two receiving options for now. Patriots declared S Jabrill Peppers, S Kyle Dugger, WR KJ Osborn, QB Joe Milton, DE Jamree Kromah, WR Javon Baker, and TE Jaheim Bell inactive against Miami.
