West Virginia redshirt sophomore WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton caught eight passes for 93 yards in a 16-13 loss on Saturday to Oklahoma.
Ford-Wheaton didn’t score, but he was consistently helping West Virginia move the chains. Just not quite consistently enough for the Mountaineers to pull off the upset. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound wideout had just seven catches prior to this game, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s as involved next Saturday against Texas Tech.

  • NO Tight End #7

Saints coach Dennis Allen said he thinks “there’s a chance” Taysom Hill (ribs) can play in Week 8.
Hill has played in just three games this season, rushing for two scores as New Orleans’ designated gadget player. He was able to get in limited practices ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Broncos and that bodes well for his return this week. It still remains to be seen how attractive Hill will be for fantasy purposes, though there is a big target void with Rashid Shaheed out and Chris Olave reportedly still in concussion protocol.
  • IND Running Back #28
Colts coach Shane Steichen said he’s “optimistic” that Jonathan Taylor (ankle) will practice this week.
Taylor has not played since Indianapolis’ Week 4 win over the Steelers, and has not practiced since. It’s possible there’s more in-building motivation than normal for Taylor’s return given just how important this game is to the Colts, as a win over the Texans would tie them for first place in the AFC South. Taylor’s practice status will be a hot Wednesday topic, with our last real update from Taylor himself, before Week 7, hinting to the media that his ankle wasn’t able to move in the ways he’d need it to.
  • NO Quarterback #4
Saints coach Dennis Allen said they’ll see where Derek Carr (oblique) “is at” after a Tuesday throwing session.
Carr has missed the last two weeks due to the oblique injury, and the return is reportedly about Allen’s ability to throw, not pain tolerance. The fact that the Saints made it clear that Spencer Rattler would start if Carr can’t go leads us to believe there’s doubt that Carr won’t be ready this week, but we’ll see how things shake out on Wednesday when their first injury report is released.
  • NO Quarterback #18
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Spencer Rattler will start Week 8’s game against the Chargers if Derek Carr (oblique) can’t go.
Carr will reportedly have another throwing session to see where he’s at on Tuesday. Rattler left Thursday night’s game late due to ineffectiveness, but Allen told reporters he felt Rattler has played well when he’s had protection. With how good the Chargers defense has been playing this year, it’s likely neither quarterback is really worth starting for fantasy purposes in Week 8.
  • NO Wide Receiver #12
Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters Monday that Chris Olave remains in the concussion protocol.
Olave’s concussion occurred during the Week 6 loss to the Bucs, and he was unable to play in the blowout loss during Thursday Night Football against the Broncos. The Saints are currently hosting Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a workout, and while New Orleans needs bodies even if Olave can go, obviously Olave’s potential absence plays a factor here.
  • NYJ Linebacker #7
Jets head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters Monday it was too soon to tell if Haason Reddick will play in Week 8 against the Patriots.
Reddick agreed to a reworked contract Monday and will practice, but it’ll be his first action after holding out for the first seven games and missing camp. The 30-year-old should be a factor going forward, but it wouldn’t be a shock if his season didn’t begin until Week 9.
  • IND Quarterback #5
Colts coach Shane Steichen, asked about Anthony Richardson’s performance, said “I’ve got to put him in better positions ... there wasn’t a lot of stuff open, to be honest, when I was out there watching it.”
Since an exciting Week 1 start against the Texans, Richardson has played in portions of four games, not completing more than 50 percent of his passes in any of them, and has one touchdown against five interceptions while cracking 200 yards as a passer just once. The good news is that this didn’t stop him from running in Week 7. The bad news is that with the Colts rallying to defend their quarterback, we haven’t seen much of a reason to recommend him as more than a dice roll in standard leagues. Perhaps another meeting with the Texans will jog his memory.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #3
C.J. Stroud said “it is very important” to get Tank Dell involved in the offense.
“We have to find a way to try and get him the rock early and often and then go from there. It has to be a focus for us,” Stroud added. Squeaky wheel narrative for Week 8? Dell was targeted twice in the red zone early for the Texans in their loss to the Packers but dropped one and caught a second pass out of bounds. Despite a Nico Collins-sized hole in the offense, Dell has just 57 yards and 13 targets over the past two weeks.
  • MIA Quarterback #1
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that the team has designated Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) for return.
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes, Tagovailoa still needs to pass concussion protocol before he can play. The fact he’s being designated for return, however, bodes well for him playing in Week 8 against the Cardinals as long as he does get through those protocols. The Dolphins passing game has been wretched since Tagovailoa has been out, and while there’s significant risks involved, the southpaw returning would be great news for those who roster Tyreek Hill and Jayden Waddle.
  • LAR Wide Receiver #88
Rams coach Sean McVay said Jordan Whittington (shoulder) would have “a little bit more of a workload” against the Vikings on Thursday night.
Whittington was active off a shoulder injury but played just 16 percent of the offensive snaps against the Raiders and was not targeted. He’d be hard to trust against a good Vikings defense if he were healthy, but when you combine the short week with last week’s bagel, it becomes hard to craft a real case for having Whittington in lineups this week.
