Campanile’s first crack as an NFL defensive coordinator will come with the new-look Jaguars. The long-time linebackers coach joins Liam Coen’s staff after being passed on by the 49ers in favor of Robert Saleh and will now be tasked with taking over a defense that ranked in the bottom 10 in points allowed, yards allowed, EPA per play, and success rate allowed. He’ll have his work cut out for him, but with young talents like Devin Lloyd, Travon Walker, and Josh Hines-Allen already in place, he should have plenty to work with out of the gate.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was first to report the hiring. Glenn will reunite with Pete Carroll as he was previously the linebacker coach under Carroll with the Seahawks for six seasons.

It’s not known yet what title Morgan will have, but it’d be surprising if it wasn’t on the defensive side and working with the linebackers. The 27-year-old spent the last two seasons working with the Fighting Illini under head coach Bret Bielema, and Illinois has been one of the better defensive teams in the country over the past few years.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes that this is the fourth interview for Udinski, as he also interviewed with the Patriots before they settled on Josh McDaniels, and recently interviewed with the Buccaneers and Seahawks. It would be more surprising than not if Udinski wasn’t an OC with a new club than not at this point, and a matchup with the Texans after they moved on from Bobby Slowik makes sense on paper.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was the first to report. Shaw spent last season in the Broncos’ front office as a senior personnel executive but will now join a revamped Lions staff to assist with their passing game. It’s Shaw’s first job as an NFL coach since 2005, when he served as the Ravens’ wide receivers coach. He will be reunited with new Lions offensive coordinator John Morton, who spent last season as the Broncos passing game coordinator. Shaw has fielded several NFL interviews for various positions since departing from Stanford after the 2022 college football season. At just 52 years old, there is plenty of time for Shaw to coach his way into a head coaching role at the NFL level if he’s interested in doing so.

Johnson was the offensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2023 and has also served as a college offensive coordinator during stints at Utah (2012-2013), Houston (2017), and Florida (2018-2019). He joined the Commanders’ staff this offseason as their assistant head coach and passing game coordinator but could once again find himself in a play-caller role if he catches on with the Texans. During his lone season as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, the Eagles ranked seventh in points per game (25.5) and eighth in yards per game while also ranking in the top 10 in both EPA per play and offensive success rate. Once viewed as a rising play-caller who also helped with the development of Jalen Hurts, Johnson could make for a nice pairing with third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud next season.

Moore suffered a core injury back in October and hasn’t played since. It seems highly unlikely the third-year pro will be activated from injured reserve for the Super Bowl, but even if he is, he wasn’t playing a meaningful role before his injury. Moore’s stock has steadily declined every year since the Chiefs made him a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He caught zero passes in six games this season before his injury.

Jurgens and Dickerson (knee) were absent Wednesday as well. The two OL stars are clearly hurt but will benefit from the two-week run-up to Super Bowl LIX. It would be great to see one or both of them return for tomorrow’s practice but it would be unsurprising to see the Eagles hold them out again.

Goedert is dealing with an ankle injury, which is likely contributing to the Eagles’ decision to rest him for a second straight day on Thursday. It wouldn’t be surprising if Goedert spent Friday on the sideline as well before ramping things up next week as the Eagles prepare to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Smith is being listed with a hamstring injury and may not suit up at all this week, given that the Eagles still have another full week of practice next week. We’ll see if things change Friday, but the team could determine a full week of rest is best before ramping him up ahead of the Super Bowl.
