If Mahomes can’t clear the league’s protocol this week, Chad Henne would start for KC in the AFC title game against Buffalo. Mahomes’ practice participation will be worth watching throughout the week.

Beane adds that signing Cook to a new deal “before he’s a free agent” in 2026 is still possible, but it sounds like contract talks have officially been tabled for now. Cook and his camp previously attempted to negotiate through public means, including a social media post in which Cook requested $15 million per year. The Bills probably aren’t going to pay a back who they don’t use on all three downs that kind of money, though it’s possible a huge 2025 could change their minds.

This despite Cleveland’s recent signing of Teven Jenkins. The Browns’ offensive line was hit hard by injuries last season, and both Teller (30 years old) and incumbent LG Joel Bitonio (33 years old) are scheduled to hit free agency next offseason. The 27-year-old Jenkins received a one-year, $3.05 million prove-it deal, giving him the chance to earn a multi-year contract as either Teller or Bitonio’s replacement. Jenkins has experience playing both left guard and right guard. Teller has declined handily from his 2020-2021 peak while dealing with injuries, posting a 62.6 PFF grade in 2024 that was his lowest since 2019.

Berry then added that all possibilities remain open with the No. 2 pick and that Abdul Carter’s stress fracture in his foot wouldn’t prohibit them from drafting him. One possible read here is that Berry is hoping his comments spur another team to pay up for the right to draft Carter. The Browns desperately need a long-term solution at quarterback, and if they won’t trade up for Ward, they may eschew Shedeur Sanders and see what they can do later in the draft.

The Jets drafted Wilson (No. 10 overall) and Gardner (No. 4 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, both players will almost assuredly have their fifth-year options picked up. That means the Jets will be negotiating from a position of strength with two years of rights in hand. There were trade rumors around Wilson late last season, but they seem to have dissipated since the team parted ways with Aaron Rodgers. We expect these talks to drag out through the remainder of the offseason as extension talks often find a natural deadline right before the start of the season, but Wilson and Gardner are players the Jets should be building around.
