Dolphins signed seventh-round WR Malcolm Perry to a four-year contract.
Perry split time between quarterback and slot back in his first three seasons at Navy, rushing for a whopping 4,359 yards from under center. Perry has natural instincts as a ball carrier, but he will have to cover the ball (seven fumbles in 2019) better in the big leagues. Perry lacks straight-line speed (4.63 40) and agility (4.31 20-yard shuttle) but, as noted by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, has brilliant quickness with the shifty feet to change course in a flash. Announced as a wide receiver upon being drafted, the Dolphins plan to move Perry all over the formation ... if he makes the team. Perry will almost certainly have to marinate on the practice squad before getting called up.
