North Carolina received a verbal commitment from four-star 2020 DE Myles Murphy.
Murphy (6'4/282) is not to be confused with Clemson pledge Myles Murphy, also a defensive lineman and also a member of the 2020 class. This offseason, the Greensboro, North Carolina, native has taken official visits to North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida. He plays with a physical bent and quick feet. Depending on how his body fills out over the coming years, a shift to defensive tackle could be possible down the road. Rivals ranks Murphy as the No. 11 prospect in the state of North Carolina for the 2020 cycle.

Cowboys signed OG Nick Broeker, formerly of the Steelers, to a contract.
Broeker will likely compete for a noteworthy backup role in the Cowboys’ banged-up offensive line group. He spent most of last season operating as a special teams blocker with the Texans. The team correspondingly released OT Dakoda Shepley.
Warren is a 'talent profile to bet on' as a TE1
Tyler Warren had three receptions for 40 yards in a preseason start for the Indianapolis Colts, and Kyle Dvorchak dives into the 2025 fantasy outlook for the rookie tight end.
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Texans S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (knee) could play in Week 1.
Per Schefter, “Gardner-Johnson’s knee injury isn’t as serious as it could have been.” This is astonishingly good news. Local and national reporters initially said that this was a season-ending ACL tear but Gardner-Johnson appears to be largely okay. He is expected to play a pivotal role in the Texans’ secondary whenever he retakes the field.
  • IND Running Back #36
The Athletic’s James Boyd reports, Colts RB Salvon Ahmed “sustained a season-ending ankle injury after being hip-drop tackled in practice.”
It’s a brutal development for the 26-year-old running back. Ahmed is scheduled to enter free agency next offseason. Hopefully, his rehab goes well and the Colts extend his contract. The team correspondingly signed undrafted free agent rookie RB Nate Noel.
  • Bears owner George McCaskey is “committed to leaving Soldier Field and the city of Chicago” with the intent to “build an indoor stadium in suburban Arlington Heights.”

McCaskey hopes to build a “transformative” stadium that can facilitate events of all kinds. Executives are focused on building a stadium with a fixed roof, which would be great for fantasy purposes as it reduces weather-related variables. Bears President Kevin Warren indicated that “the Bears hope to ‘move dirt this year’ and begin building the stadium as soon as possible.”
  • SF Wide Receiver #7
49ers placed WR Equanimeous St. Brown on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.
Things have been quite busy for St. Brown. The 49ers signed, cut and signed him again before making this move. The veteran wide receiver will now miss the 2025 season, unfortunately. The 49ers correspondingly signed QB Tanner Mordecai.
  • LAC Running Back #22
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said, “there’s a chance” Najee Harris (eye) is unable to play in Week 1 against the Chiefs.
Harbaugh refused to elaborate beyond confirming that Harris can indeed “open” his eye. That’s a low bar. Advising fantasy managers on Harris’ re-draft value is difficult. The Chargers are being tight-lipped regarding the actual damage Harris’ eye suffered. Avoiding players who are already injured, while losing their job to an exciting rookie, is generally a good idea, though.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #13
The Athletic’s Daniel Popper believes that the Chargers will play Keenan Allen out wide at Z-receiver “most of the time.”
Allen was seen lining up on out wide as the Chargers’ Z-receiver on Thursday, Ladd McConkey lined up in the slot. Popper currently expects this to remain the case come regular season play. This is big news for both players. Allen is no longer a weekly must-start in fantasy football, and losing regular access to the quick-hitting layup targets from the slot further reduces his scoring potential.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #15
Ladd McConkey (undisclosed) was seen “suited up and in pads” at Chargers practice on Friday.
McConkey has been dealing with the injury since July 28th and The Athletic’s Daniel Popper adds that McConkey has sported a wrap on one of his thighs. McConkey dealt with knee and hip injuries last season. No word on if the current issue is related but his apparent return to practice is a great sign. Popper also said that Keenan Allen has been lining up out wide as the team’s Z-receiver in practice, allowing McConkey to stay in his slot-heavy role. He’s a fantasy football WR1.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
A.J. Brown said he had to get his “knee drained twice a week” in the back half of the 2024 NFL season.
Brown said he continued undergoing the medical procedure on a weekly basis through Super Bowl LIX. The 28-year-old star has been dealing with knee issues for quite some time. In January 2021, he underwent cleanup procedures in both knees. The issues have not stopped him from rattling off three straight 1,000-yard seasons. Brown remains a fantasy football WR1 entering year seven.
  • DAL OFFENSIVE GUARD (SUB) #65
Cowboys placed OG Rob Jones on injured reserve with a neck injury.
Jones suffered a neck injury on July 28th, and was expected to rehab the issue for two-to-three months. His placement on the injured reserve list rules him out for the 2025 season. Jones is a backup, but the Cowboys’ offensive line health is already in a bad place. They will likely work out a few offensive linemen next week. The team correspondingly signed RB Malik Davis.
