Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling lists Wyoming senior DB Andrew Wingard among the best “small school” prospects in the 2019 draft class.
Wingard considered entering the NFL Draft after making 114 tackles and five interceptions in 2017, but he’ll be back in 2018 for the Cowboys, and the 6-foot, 207-pound safety has a big fan in Easterling. “A versatile defender who can line up at multiple spots, Wingard’s frame, toughness and instincts will likely limit him to being a box defender at the next level, but that won’t keep him from being a sought-after prospect,” he writes. If Wingard produces like he has over the past three years, he has a real chance to be among the first safeties to come off the board in 2019.
