Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline reports that Army T Brett Toth “is not and will not” lobby for deferment of his military service.
Toth intends to plans to honor his commitment to the military, which will have the effect of deferring his NFL career. “Any changes or lobbying within the Department of Defense for deferral of service would take place at higher echelons of the military and would be out of Toth’s hands,” Pauline wrote. “Regardless, I’m told Toth’s unwavering desire to play in the NFL was clear throughout his interviews with clubs during the all-star weeks, though his first priority is fulfilling the agreement he made to USMA four years ago.” Toth (6'5/304) likely would have been drafted were it not for his military obligations. It’s now an open-ended question as to whether he’ll hear his name called.
