Georgia State QB Nick Arbuckle attended Steelers rookie minicamp last weekend.
Arbuckle (6', 225) was a wildly successful system quarterback in college -- he threw for a Sun Belt-record 4,368 passing yards last season -- who will struggle to hang at the next level due to deficiencies in height, arm strength and athleticism (5.23 forty at his Pro Day). Pro Football Focus begs to differ, positing that Arbuckle could eventually become an NFL No. 2 because he’s effective in rhythm (had a 70.4 completion percentage for 10.2 yards per attempt in clean pockets) and was better than you think over the past two seasons in college (similar grades to Paxton Lynch during that span). Before that can happen, he’ll need a contract. Pittsburgh, which already has four signal-callers on the roster, hasn’t offered.
