  • FA Running Back #33
The San Francisco Chronicle passes along “whispers” that the Raiders’ reclamation flyer on Trent Richardson is “not going so well.”
Beat writer Vic Tafur doesn’t elaborate beyond that. In early July, OL coach Mike Tice stated T-Rich shed weight this offseason, helping some of his old quickness to return. More-objective observers of Raiders practice must not have seen much from Richardson in the way of positives. Owed only $600,000 in guaranteed money on his two-year, $3.85 million deal, Richardson would be easy to cut.
  • CAR Tight End #0
J’Tavion Sanders caught 3-of-5 targets for 13 yards in the Panthers’ Week 5 loss to the Bears.
Tommy Tremble suffered a concussion in the first half and did not return. Sanders managed to earn a season-high in targets and set a high-water mark in receptions, though his yardage total remained underhwlmeing. Even if Tremble misses Week 6, Sanders will top out as a TE3 for his upcoming matchup with Atlanta.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #15
Jonathan Mingo caught 2-of-5 targets for 37 yards in the Panthers’ Week 5 loss to the Bears.
Mingo has played a larger role in the Panthers’ offensive with Adam Thielen on injured reserve but hasn’t converted his uptick in routes to anything notable in the box scores. He has topped out at 40 receiving yards in a game and that came all the way back in Week 1. There isn’t much for fantasy managers to see here.
  • SF Kicker #4
Jake Moody (ankle/leg) exited in the second quarter of the 49ers Week 5 game against the Cardinals.
Moody’s right leg/ankle folded under him while attempting to make a tackle on a kick return. The injury was to Moody’s kicking leg, and he was in visible pain limping to the sideline. It seems unlikely he’ll return at this point, leaving punter Mitch Wishnowsky and/or Kyle Juszczyk as the emergency kickers.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #5
Diontae Johnson caught 3-of-6 targets for 23 yards in the Panthers’ Week 5 loss to the Bears, adding two carries for six yards.
After earning fantasy managers’ trust with 15 receptions for 205 yards and two scores across Andy Dalton’s two starts, Johnson did what the kids call “a rug pull.” He and Dalton weren’t on the same page in this game and the entire Carolina offense fell apart, exacerbating the issue. Johnson and some of the starters even got the final drive off. Johnson treated us to two great fantasy outings over the past two weeks, but it was unrealistic to expect him to put up WR1 numbers on a weekly basis with Dalton as his quarterback. He will still sit in the WR2 ranks when he retakes the field versus the Falcons next week.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #18
Jalen Coker caught all four of his targets for 68 yards in the Panthers’ Week 5 loss to the Bears.
Coker easily paced the Panthers in receiving yards. He put over 30 yards between himself and the next Carolina receiver while also leading the team in receptions. On the other hand, much of his damage was done in garbage time. He caught two passes for 31 yards on the Panthers’ final drive. Andy Dalton and some of the starters had hit the bench by this time. The rookie from Holy Cross is an intriguing stash on deep dynasty rosters but isn’t in the redraft picture for Week 6.
  • HOU Tight End #86
Dalton Schultz caught 4-of-6 targets for 34 yards in Houston’s Week 5 win over the Bills.
Schultz is mainly catching dumpoffs, and he’s not generating much fantasy value. He’s had just one red zone target in five weeks. He’s been under 35 yards in all five weeks. It’s hard to recommend him in fantasy leagues at this point.
  • JAX Running Back #4
Tank Bigsby rushed 13 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Jaguars’ Week 5 win over the Colts, adding a 28-yard reception.
Out-snapping Travis Etienne as he doubled him up in carries, Bigsby had the first 100-yard performance of his career while scoring his first two touchdowns of 2024. His scores came from 19 and 65 yards out. For the 19-yarder, he emerged powerfully from a pile and broke all manner of tackles. For the 65-yarder, he took a pitch, cut back across the middle of the field, and broke several tackles en route to the house. He aced the eye test and probably moved ahead of Etienne for the time being in the Jags’ backfield pecking order. If there’s a concern, it’s that the Jags could have trouble moving the ball in Week 6 against the Bears, but Bigsby will probably find himself inside the top 30, if not top 24, in most ranks.
  • CHI Tight End #85
Cole Kmet caught 3-of-4 targets for 57 yards in the Bears’ Week 5 win over the Panthers.
Kmet got behind the Panthers’ defense for a 25-yard gain in the first half. He could have picked up even more yards on the play if Caleb Williams had led him instead of underthrowing the pass. Kmet came back with a 26-yard gain later in the game as well. Despite the chunk plays, Kmet’s fantasy outlook coming off this game isn’t ideal. He was fourth on the team in targets and logged a measly 14 percent target share. It was his second week in a row with exactly four targets. With Keenan Allen back in the fold, Kmet is low in the pecking order for targets in Chicago. He sits in the TE2 ranks for his Week 6 game versus the Jaguars.
  • WAS Tight End #86
Zach Ertz caught 2-of-8 targets for 10 yards in a Week 5 win over the Browns.
Ertz got behind the Browns defenders up the seam for what looked like a 98-yard touchdown pass, but Jayden Daniels just said the ball over his head. Granted, it’s no certainty that Ertz would have won the foot race after the catch, but it might have been nice to see him try. Instead, he ends with just two catches and a poor fantasy day. There should be bigger days ahead with the way this Commanders offense looks right now.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #12
Luke McCaffrey caught all three targets for 19 yards in a Week 5 win over the Browns.
McCaffrey was second on the team in catches and tied for third on the team in targets but it certainly wasn’t a big day. Some of that had to do with the Commanders being up by multiple touchdowns for much of the game, but McCaffrey also isn’t seeing many targets deep down the field which caps his fantasy upside.
