Mike Williams’ struggles continued in the Bucs’ Week 5 loss to the Niners, as he notched just four receptions for 28 yards and had a fumble.
If there is any good news it’s that he was targeted nine times, and his fumble came as the result of an unavoidable hit from Dashon Goldshon. He was mugged in the end zone on one of his targets, but also ran a couple of bad routes and couldn’t make tough catches. It’s tempting to simply say the game got away from the Bucs, but the pattern of poor play for both Williams and Josh Freeman is discouraging.

NFL.com reports that Texas WR Isaiah Bond “turned himself in Thursday morning on a sexual assault warrant issued by the Frisco (Texas) Police Department.”
Per the report, “Bond, 20, was subsequently released after posting bail.” Further details on the matter have not yet been released. Bond spent 2022 and 2023 at Alabama before transferring to Texas for 2024. “The Texas product has been widely predicted to be a Day 2" pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter’s “stress reaction in his foot is healing” and that “no surgery will be needed.”
Carter had his medical recheck in Indianapolis on Thursday after a stress reaction in his right foot was discovered during the NFL Scouting Combine in February. “It should be a non-factor with the teams at this point,” his agent Drew Rosenhaus said. Carter is expected to arrive in New Jersey on Thursday evening where he will have dinner with the Giants, before his Top 30 visit with the team on Friday, per the MMQB’s Albert Breer.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick said that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders’ camp “wants” Sanders to be drafted by a team picking outside of the top three.
Riddick’s comments come five days after he reportedly met with Deion Sanders, who, Cleveland’s Mary Kay Cabot explains, “have remained in close contact” since their 1993 season together with the Falcons. Riddick said he hopes that Sanders “doesn’t go in the top three picks” and that he thinks Sanders’ camp “would tell you the same thing. There are other teams they want to go to.” Riddick listed the Saints, Steelers and Raiders as being “very good fits for [Sanders].”
  • LAR Linebacker #51
Rams re-signed LB Troy Reeder to a one-year contract.
Reeder contributes on both defense and special teams but was limited to just six games in 2024 after suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 7. He notched 31 tackles, one going for a loss or no gain, and one pass defended. He should handle a similar role this season.
  • NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Texans hosted Minnesota LT Aireontae Ersery on a visit
The Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, who is regarded as a potential late first-round pick, started all 12 games he played at left tackle for Minnesota in 2024. According to PFF, Ersery allowed just one sack last season. The Texans, who currently hold the 25th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, dealt Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Commanders in March.
  • FA Kicker
    Colts released K Matt Gay
Gay, who signed as a free agent in 2023, made 64-of-78 field goals (82.1 percent) and 68-of-69 PATs (98.6 percent) in 33 games with the Colts. The six-year veteran was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 with the Rams, helping his team win a Super Bowl that season. The move leaves the Colts with Spencer Shrader as the lone kicker on their roster. Per Over the Cap, the move creates $2.75 million in cap space for the Colts, while still having to pay $4 million in dead money.
  • PIT Linebacker #90
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports EDGE T.J. Watt is currently negotiating a new contract with the Steelers.
Taking a page out of the wide receiver playbook, Watt dropped a cryptic post on his Instagram Thursday morning of him flashing a peace sign. As Rapoport noted, it doesn’t sound like the contract talks are going the way Watt wanted. Watt is about to enter the final year of his four-year, $112 million contract. The Steelers’ front office has already said publicly that they want to get a deal done with their star pass-rusher this offseason. Watt totaled 11.5 sacks and forced six fumbles last season. Even if the hard ball continues, the two sides should be able to reach an agreement before the start of the 2025 season.
  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Browns will host Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson for a visit today.
Ferguson left Oregon as the program’s all-time leader among tight ends in receptions and receiving touchdowns. If selected by the Browns, he would join a receiving corps which features David Njoku, who boasted the league’s fifth-highest target share in 2024. Ferguson had the fastest 40 (4.63 seconds) and the highest vertical jump (39”) among tight ends at the combine. PFF graded Ferguson 30th among FBS tight ends last season.
  • FA Quarterback
Steelers are hosting Syracuse QB Kyle McCord for a visit.
The Steelers are doing their due diligence on the quarterback class with Shedeur Sanders in town for a visit on Thursday. McCord will get his chance to speak with Mike Tomlin and company next week. Pittsburgh is widely expected to sign Aaron Rodgers, but the move doesn’t appear near the finish line, leaving the Steelers with only Mason Rudolph at quarterback right now. Even if they do land the plane with Rodgers, Pittsburgh should be looking to add a long-term plan at quarterback via the draft. McCord erupted at Syracuse last year for an FBS-leading 4,779 passing yards and 34 scores.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #10
Jets reworked WR Allen Lazard’s contract.
Lazard was brought in on a four-year, $44 million contract two offseasons ago as a part of the Jets’ recruitment of Aaron Rodgers. The move was only slightly less disastrous than the one to acquire Rodgers. Lazard did little in his first season as a Jet and was a healthy scratch late in the year. He looked better when paired with Rodgers last year, going for 530 yards and six scores in a dozen games. Lazard doesn’t bring much to the table without Rodgers throwing him the ball, but a pay cut will make keeping him around as a locker room veteran far more palatable for the Jets. Per Over the Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald, the move will save New York $8.5 million in cap space this year.
