ESPN’s John Clayton confirms that Hakeem Nicks’ status is “in doubt” for Week 2.
Clayton is confirming a New York Daily News report that Nicks is “at best, uncertain” for Monday night’s game against the Rams. “The knee is day to day but there is definite concern about this week,” says Clayton. We’re guessing that Domenik Hixon would start opposite Mario Manningham if Nicks can’t go. Hixon could shape up as a nice “handcuff” waiver addition with St. Louis possibly missing both starting corners.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport believes Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders could fall out of the first round.
Rapoport begins his report by saying no team has done more extensive work on Sanders than the Giants, but we find it difficult to believe Sanders is still in play at No. 3 overall the way the spring has unfolded so far. In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday afternoon that Sanders would not be selected with the third overall pick, adding the Giants feel they have “amply addressed” the quaterback situation with the signings of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Schefter later stated the Giants do not want to “force the issue” when it comes to selecting a quarterback tonight. If that is the case, Sanders would be in a precarious situation since the Saints at No. 9 seem like his best inside the top 20, and most recent reports have had them going in another direction. If neither New Orleans nor Pittsburgh (No. 21) takes the plunge, then falling out of the top 32 is a real possibility.
Can 49ers' McCaffrey have a fantasy rebound year?
Lawrence Jackson Jr. unpacks the news of San Francisco 49ers' Christian McCaffrey saying he has no restrictions heading into the 2025 season, analyzing if the veteran can have a rebound year in fantasy football.
  • MIA General Manager
The Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly reports that the Dolphins have told multiple teams that they are open to trading down from No. 13, “depending on how the board falls.”
Specifically, the Dolphins are “attempting to acquire” more Day 2 picks. Kelly expects the Dolphins to load up on offensive linemen, defensive linemen and cornerbacks if they are able to bolster their Day 2 war chest. The Dolphins currently have just two total picks in Rounds 2 and 3, but have four total picks in Rounds 4 and 5. While his intent to trade back is clear, it would be unsurprising to see GM Chris Grier package two or three of those to go get his preferred player(s) on Day 2 as well. Kelly notes that, entering last year’s draft, Grier “had made more trades since 2019 than any other executive.”

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reports Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart could be the second quarterback off the board Thursday evening.
Howe’s report comes after speaking with teams that “wouldn’t be shocked” were that the case. This could lead to a potential race between several teams to vie for a position to land Dart later in the first round. Among the teams that have shown interest in Dart include the Giants, Saints, Rams and Steelers. Connor Rogers’ final mock draft had the Giants selecting Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders with the 24th overall pick, but added Dart would not be a surprise either.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Underdog’s James Palmer reports that “it seems more and more likely” Kirk Cousins will wait until Day 2 concludes to waive his no-trade clause.
If multiple quarterbacks come off the board on Thursday, things could shake out differently. Per Palmer, there is a chance Cousins chooses to waive the no-trade clause in time for a Day 2 trade. A large chunk of the 2025 quarterback class could be forced to wait until Friday to have their names called, though, and Cousins has not wavered in his desire to start for an NFL team this year.
  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Patriots are “doing more work” on LSU OL Will Campbell “late in the process.”
According to Fowler, members of the Patriots organization traveled to Louisiana in recent days to meet with Campbell. The All-American tackle has also met with the team in Foxborough. The Athletic’s Jeff Howe adds that the Patriots “love” Campbell and appear “comfortable” selecting him if he is available. Doubt about his NFL potential was raised by the length of his arms, but apparently that doesn’t seem to bother the Patriots staff.
  • FA Defensive Back
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirms the Jaguars are the “team to watch” heading into Thursday evening’s Round 1.
“My understanding is the Jacksonville Jaguars are plotting a potential move to No. 2,” said Rapoport on Thursday. “It’s not done, and I don’t think anything will be done until they’re on the clock. And I don’t even know if the Browns are going to do it, but the Jaguars are at least plotting.” The Browns are heavily favored to select Travis Hunter with the second overall pick, but the Jaguars appear intent on making things interesting.
  • FA Tight End
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports teams have a “slight lean” toward Penn State’s Tyler Warren over Michigan’s Colston Loveland as the draft’s TE1.
Florio also reports “the teams to watch when it comes to tight end are the Jets at No. 7, the Bears at No. 10, and the Colts at No. 14. It’s possible both Warren and Loveland will go to two of those three teams.” Florio considers the Jets “specifically intriguing.” Gang Green is painfully low on pass-catching depth, and Warren would be a mismatch weapon in the middle of the field opposite Garrett Wilson. Warren is still most likely to be the first seam stretcher off the board, but both seem likely to be selected Night 1.
  • NYJ Running Back #20
Josina Anderson reports league sources have been made aware of the “potential availability” of Breece Hall within “the last week and a half.”
Who knows what is true this time of year, but Anderson’s report comes a month after new Jets coach Aaron Glenn was far from glowing in his assessment of his new lead back. Glenn, you may remember, emphasized having “three running backs,” pledging each would be "(utilized) as much as possible.” Perhaps they are willing to move on from Hall in the final year of his rookie contract. Stranger things have certainly happened. It has been too quiet on the NFL trade front. Maybe things will begin shaking loose Thursday afternoon.
  • CLE Cornerback #0
FOX NFL’s Jordan Schultz reports Browns CB Greg Newsome and EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo are “believed to be available via trade entering the draft.”
The Athletic’s Zac Jackson previously speculated that Newsome could be traded, noting his $13.4 million cap hit as a reason for the team to move on. Cleveland can save the entirety of that figure by trading Newsome. The former first-round pick totaled five pass breakups across 13 games last year while playing a mix of slot and outside corner. Okoronkwo notched three sacks as a pass-rush specialist in 2024. Given the diminished roles both players hold in Cleveland, it wouldn’t take much for a team to acquire either defender.
  • FA Defensive Back
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter is “uniquely equipped” to succeed at both positions.
Stefanski also said, via a team transcript on Wednesday, that he had a conversation with Hunter, stating "(Travis) gets up at 5 in the morning quite often, so that’s not a problem for him in terms of maximizing his day.” Over the past two seasons at Colorado, Hunter averaged an FBS-high 111.5 snaps per game when no other player has averaged more than 78 since at least 2015, per NFL Research. The Browns currently have the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and are heavily favored to take Hunter.
