  • FA Running Back #20
Arkansas RB Darren McFadden will forgo his senior season and enter the 2008 NFL Draft.
As long as he stays out of piano bars between now and late April, McFadden should have no trouble being a top three pick. Although Miami could pass on him at No. 1, it would probably be hard for St. Louis to do the same at No. 2 with Steven Jackson entering a contract season in 2008. A coin flip will determine who picks third between the Falcons and Raiders.
  • ATL Running Back #25
Tyler Allgeier rushed nine times for 53 yards in the Falcons’ Week 2 win over the Eagles, adding 12 yards on his lone reception.
Allgeier handled a much larger workload and share of the backfield opportunities than he did in Week 1 when he was out-touched by Robinson 23 to three. While he continues to be one of the best handcuff backs in the game, he might carry a bit more standalone value than thought after a weak workload in Week 1.
  • ATL Running Back #7
Bijan Robinson rushed 14 times for 97 yards in the Falcons’ Week 2 win over the Eagles, adding 25 yards on four receptions.
Robinson commanded the backfield in the first half but ceded significant work to Tyler Allgeier in the third and fourth frames, with Robinson finishing with 19 opportunities to the 10 of Allgeier. Although that opportunity split doesn’t look terrible on the surface, it comes a week after Robinson out-touched Allgeier 23 to three, highlighting the stark contrast in the workload split to start the season. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on the usage split between the two moving forward after Robinson was drafted as a clear cut workhorse this offseason.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Kirk Cousins completed 20-of-29 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons’ 22-21, Week 2 win over the Eagles.
The Falcons snuck out of Philadelphia with their first win of the season on the backs of some two-minute drill heroics from Cousins. The offense largely failed to get any momentum going against an aggressive Eagles defense, scoring just two field goals in the first half before finding the end zone for the first time at the end of the third quarter. In a shocking turn of events, Saquon Barkley failed to corral a ball that hit him in the hands on third down in the fourth quarter, a routine play that would have allowed the Eagles to ice the game. After the subsequent field goal, Cousins would get the ball back with under two minutes to play and no time outs, leading a touchdown drive to take the lead with 34 seconds remaining. Very much a vintage “you like that” moment from the veteran signal caller. As for his mechanics in his second game back from a torn Achilles, Cousins played mostly from under center after spending almost the entire first game in shotgun or pistol, good news for Falcons fans for how the offense can run moving forward. Up next for the 1-1 Falcons are the Chiefs at home in Week 3.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
ESPN’s Lisa Salters reports Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) is expected to miss “multiple weeks.”
Brown’s hamstring injury appears to be much worse than initially reported this week, going from questionable to out in Week 2 before Salters reported that the All-Pro wide receiver is now expected to miss multiple weeks with the ailment. DeVonta Smith will serve as the team’s top pass-catcher while Brown is out, with tight end Dallas Goedert also expected to see additional opportunities. Rookie Johnny Wilson, newcomer Jahan Dotson, and Britain Covey also figure to see more opportunities.
  • NE Linebacker #8
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Patriots placed LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (pectoral) on injured reserve.
Bentley was a mainstay in the Patriots’ linebacking corps, amassing more than 100 tackles in each of the previous three seasons in addition to being a defensive captain. It’s a massive blow to a Patriots team that derives its identity from the defensive side of the ball. Bentley departed from the team’s Week 2 game against the Seahawks with what was then being called a shoulder injury, although further testing revealed the torn pectoral. Bentley was playing the 2024 season on the first year of a new two-year contract that that keeps him tied to the Patriots through 2025, although the team does have an out at the end of this season $5.5 million in cap space.
  • ATL Running Back #30
Falcons declared RB Jase McClellan, CB Antonio Hamilton, DL Brandon Dorlus, OG Jovaughn Gwyn, OT Brandon Parker, and DL Ruke Orhorhoro inactive for Week 2 against the Eagles.
No real surprises here after the list of inactives almost exactly mirrors the team’s Week 1 inactives list. The Falcons remain one of the healthier on-paper teams heading into Week 2.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
A.J. Brown is inactive for Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the Falcons.
This was expected after he was ruled out on Monday, but is worth a reminder considering his high pedigree. Also inactive for the Eagles are QB Tanner McKee, CB Eli Ricks, LB Devin White, OL Darian Kinnard, OG Trevor Keegan, and DT Byron Young. McKee will serve as the team’s emergency quarterback.
  • SF Wide Receiver #1
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said WR Deebo Samuel (calf) will miss “a few weeks.”
Samuel picked up a calf strain at some point in the 49ers’ Week 2 loss to the Vikings and is expected to miss time. It’s a massive blow to a team already without Christian McCaffrey due to Samuel’s increased rushing workload and schemed usage through the air in the absence of the All-Pro running back. George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jordan Mason will be asked to step up in their collective absence, while Jauan Jennings is likely to see a slight uptick in offensive snaps.
  • ATL Linebacker #53
Falcons placed LB Nate Landman (quadricep) on injured reserve.
Landman had been rehabbing a quad injury that has plagued him for the previous month and the team recently added a calf injury to his designation. He will now miss the next four games, at minimum. The Falcons signed DB Kevin King in a corresponding move Monday.
  • LAR Guard #72
Rams LG Jonah Jackson will miss an “extended period of time” after aggravating his shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals.
It sounds like Jackson is going to end up on injured reserve, which would sideline him until at least Week 8. The Rams’ left guard missed most of training camp with a shoulder issue. It’s a brutal, brutal blow for an already decimated and under-performing Rams offensive line. It’s frankly looking like a lost season in Los Angeles.
