Sanborn never did better than 412 defensive snaps in three seasons with the Bears, but he showed some solid run defense in his largest showing to date in 2023. It’s possible he winds up with former DC Matt Eberflus in Dallas. Still just 24, the former UDFA will probably have a chance to compete for a real role somewhere in free agency.

The move saves $3.8 million in cap space for Seattle in 2025. Fant only played 30 total snaps for the Seahawks in 2024. The veteran had been an acceptable stopgap for the Texans in 2023 and may wind up finding another swing tackle role in 2025 if he still wants to play. Entering his age-33 season it is no guarantee that he’ll continue to suit up.

The combination of money always being available and a forward-thinking general manager often have the Eagles out in front of potential problems in negotiations, and it makes plenty of sense to make sure Barkley is happy after his 2,005-yard season (in just 16 games) in 2024. Adam Schefter reports that Barkley will be the NFL’s first running back to make more than $20 million a season and has also procured $36 million fully guaranteed at signing. Barkley’s transcendent season was rewarded with a whopper of a contract, one that other running backs will likely be trying to argue they deserve for the next 5-10 years. Barkley will be one of the top running backs off the board in 2025 fantasy drafts. Depending on what happens with Ja’Marr Chase’s contract situation, Barkley could be considered at No. 1 overall in most fantasy drafts this August.

Robertson-Harris kicked off trade deadline season by coming over from the Jaguars in mid-October. His playing time dwindled for Seattle, as he didn’t play more than 20 defensive snaps in a game once after Week 9. Robertson-Harris was also used more as an edge player in Seattle than he ever had been in his other stops. The release saves Seattle $6 million in cap space. Robertson-Harris will look to revive his career elsewhere in his age-32 season, preferably somewhere where he can rush the passer from the interior again.

Seattle will save just $2.5 million against the cap with this move. They had given Jenkins permission to seek a trade, but apparently nothing materialized. The 31-year-old was moved into a sub role with the Seahawks after Week 6 and simply wasn’t up to the run responsibilities he had been in his last few years with the Jaguars. He’s probably more suited for a backup role at this stage of his career, but it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he competed for a starting role in 2025.

The Jones release, which was rumored in February, frees up $11.572 million in cap space for Seattle. Jones, entering his age-28 season, has been more adequate than disastrous for Seattle. He’s probably got a chance to find a starter role elsewhere, and at worst could end up as part of a rotation. His PFF grades for 2023 and 2024 were 61.7 and 54.3, respectively. Denver had more success using him on the inside earlier in his career, and Jones could be a better fit in that role going forward.

Green was disastrous in pass blocking early in the season. Hwas so mistrusted by the coaching staff that after returning from a shoulder injury in December Green never saw another rep as a starter. Green has full-season PFF grades of 37.7 (2022) and 38.6 (2024) buttressing a lost season due to knee surgery and is not a lock to make the Texans 53-man roster in 2025.

Lamb’s base salary of $26.85 million will be cut thoroughly, adding money on to future years of his contract as a signing bonus as NFL team’s traditionally do. This could be a precursor to an aggressive Cowboys move. But with Dallas currently hanging just barely under the cap before the Osa Odighizuwa extension hits the books officially, it could also just be the Cowboys creating operating room for the beginning of the offseason.

The plan appears to be for the Giants to double-dip with a veteran at quarterback as well as adding a rookie quarterback, be it Cam Ward in a potential trade-up or someone else later in the draft. Darnold seems likely to have a lot of interest on the free agent market. He’s been tied to the Giants, Titans, Raiders, and a return to Minnesota. Wilson’s rumored market has been pretty cold in comparison, and it’s possible that he is the fallback plan in New York. Wilson did visit the Giants in 2024 before signing with Pittsburgh. Aaron Rodgers was mentioned only as a “possibility” by Ranaan, perhaps throwing some cold water on that scenario. It is clear the Giants will absolutely remodel the quarterback room this offseason.

Rankins was with the Texans in 2023 and Houston lost a bidding war with the Bengals in the 2024 offseason to bring him back. After being released by the Bengals following a disappointing 2024 season where he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list, it appears the Texans believe the veteran still has something left entering his age-31 season. Wilson reports that Rankins has interest from “multiple NFL teams” and thus, he may get a real contract.
