Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) is out for Week 8 against the Bills.

Hawkins was unable to practice all week as he tends to a knee injury, ultimately ruled out for Week 8 Friday. It will go down as his second consecutive absence, with his next opportunity to take the field to come in Week 9 against the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.

Hawkins was absent for the second consecutive day, requiring some level of participation Friday to avoid a designation for the team’s showdown against the Bills in Week 8. The team got good news on other fronts as Lamar Jackson, Ioane Vega, Kyle Hamilton, and Roquan Smith were all present Thursday.

Neither did fellow Ravens safety Jaylinn Hawkins, who is also dealing with a knee injury. Ravens coach Jesse Minter said a few of his players were dealing with “after game type things” when asked about Hamilton, so it doesn’t sound like this is a major issue. Still, with multiple members of the secondary banged up, this is a situation to monitor throughout the week.
  • BAL Safety #21
Hawkins signed with the Pats as a backup two years ago. He was elevated to a starting role in 2025 and put some of his best play on tape. Hawkins totaled six pass breakups, four interceptions, and 1.5 sacks across 15 games. He will likely serve as Jesse Minter’s third safety in Baltimore’s new defense.
  • Peppers has $4.32 million in guaranteed money remaining on his contract for this season. The 29-year-old safety started 26 games over the last three seasons with the Patriots. New England could be looking to start Jaylinn Hawkins and rookie Craig Woodson now, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
  • NE Safety #32
Hawkins will handle backup safety duties while primarily contributing on special teams. He earned a 69.5 PFF special teams grade last year, though he does not return punts nor kicks.
  • LAC Defensive Back #32
Hawkins was primarily a special teams contributor for Atlanta to start the season. He saw a handful of defensive snaps in each of his first three games but has only played on defense one time in the past three weeks. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chargers were not the only team to put in a claim on Hawkins.
  • ATL Defensive Back #32
Hawkins was a 2020 fourth-round pick by the Falcons, starting 16 games in 2022. He has four career interceptions and was in the last year of his rookie contract, but Hawkins has now been cut loose by Atlanta.
  • BAL Safety #21
Hawkins (6'0/208) was a highly recruited wide receiver in high school but transitioned to Cal’s secondary after a redshirt year. He was a three-year starter and earned an All-Pac 12 honorable mention as a redshirt senior. He has racked up 10 interceptions over the last three seasons, but he is a below-average tackler and makes too many gambles for a free safety. Hawkins was a projected undrafted free agent and The Athletic’s Dane Brugler’s 30th ranked safety in the 2020 NFL Draft.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports Dalton Kincaid (chest) is expected to play in Week 8 against the Ravens.

Kincaid got banged up late in Week 6 and then got a bye week to rest up. He was limited in all three practices this week before being listed as questionable for Week 8. Kincaid will play a part-time role, per usual, but his elite efficiency has been enough to keep him in the TE1 mix so far. Playing in a shootout with the Ravens, he’ll remain in the top 12 tight ends this week as well.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said Lamar Jackson (ankle) “won’t be 100 percent” in Week 8 against the Bills.

The good news, per Wolfe, is that Jackson will still be able to move despite playing on a bum ankle. Jackson told reporters the pain is “bearable” earlier in the week, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence from Ravens fans and fantasy managers. On the other hand, if Jackson is out there, we expect him to be mobile enough to lead a top-flight offense. A date with the Bills, which features the highest game total of the week, should also create an incredible environment for fantasy production. He is back at the top of the QB1 mix for a likely shootout with the Bills.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Colts want a third-round pick for Josh Downs.

The Colts are already the league’s biggest sellers ahead of the trade deadline and they’re not done yet. While they get plenty of interest in Downs, a third-round pick might be too much to ask after his slow start to the year. Downs has 26 catches for 307 yards as we approach the midway point of the season. Downs is also set to become a free agent in the spring, meaning that he might play only a handful of games for his new team. On the other hand, his disappointing season can largely be written off as the product of a failing offense. Fantasy managers should at least hold onto Downs until the trade deadline, even if he’s barely a WR3 as things stand right now.

Jordan Schultz reports the Vikings, Giants, Broncos, Bengals and Packers are amongst the teams that have “checked in” on a potential Jonathan Taylor trade.

The Vikings dots have been getting connected for a while now, so it’s not surprising to see something of a confirmation they are interested. The Giants and Bengals also make all the sense in the world. Green Bay would be a fit, as well, though it would be a bit surprising to see the Broncos add to their running back surplus. Taylor, of course, would blow their other backs out of the water. There’s enough smoke here to believe a fire might break out, but the Colts can probably be taken at their word that it would take an overpay to pry away what amounts to their franchise player right now.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports DJ Moore (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 8 against the Ravens.

Moore missed the Bills’ previous two games but had the bye week to get healthy. He was limited in practice throughout the week before being listed as questionable. He’s likely still not at full strength, but fantasy managers can’t be too concerned given the game environment. The Bills’ matchup with Baltimore has all of the makings of a shootout. Moore was also operating as Josh Allen’s clear No. 1 receiver before aggravating his shoulder injury. Moore is a strong WR2 option for Week 8.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Micah Parsons (knee) is targeting a Week 12 return.

Parsons is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered late in the 2025 season. Per Rapoport, Parsons is expected to return to practice this week, meaning he will be designated to return from injured reserve in the coming days. He will then ramp up for a few weeks before hopefully returning in Week 12 against the Rams. Green Bay’s Week 11 bye will give him some extra time to get fully up to speed.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Josh Jacobs is “going to continue to play, but it is possible that he gets a suspension” at the end of the league’s investigation into several claims of domestic violence against him.

A public records request revealed three additional accusations of domestic violence against Jacobs over the weekend. That is on top of the initial incident in which Jacobs ultimately pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. The NFL put out a statement saying they will continue to look into Jacobs’ situation. Even though Jacobs was removed from the Commissioner’s Exempt List two weeks ago, the league’s investigation was still ongoing. Rapoport notes that the league is also looking into whether Jacobs was “upfront” with them about his disturbing legal situation. Of note, Jacobs’ team pushed to have video of the most recent incident sealed from public access while the league actively sought to have it released. Rapoport makes it sound like it may take some time for a suspension to be announced, but it’s more likely than not that Jacobs is suspended because of the most recent revelations.
