George Pickens (shoulder/hamstring) is questionable for Week 8 against the Cardinals.

Pickens saw a hamstring designation added to his status this week after playing through a shoulder ailment the previous two games, which was enough for the team to list him as questionable after a week of limited sessions. Although we expect Pickens to continue to play through his injuries, fantasy managers will want to confirm his status when the team releases inactives 90-minutes prior to first kick. If active, Pickens is an upside WR2 against the Cardinals.

Pickens had a 35-yard touchdown taken off the board by an offensive holding penalty. Outside of feasting on Thursday Night in Week 5 while CeeDee Lamb rested following his bludgeoning of the Texans, this is mostly just what it’s been for Pickens. He has one touchdown and zero games over 82 yards outside of that one. He’ll remain a reasonable WR2 next week against the Colts but the boom weeks have been tough to come by this year.

Pickens was expected to play after being listed as questionable. He can be counted on as a WR2 against a rough Cardinals defense. Inactive for the Cowboys are: WR KaVontae Turpin (rib), LB Dee Winters (Achilles), TE Luke Schoonmaker (groin), CB Shavon Revel Jr., OLB Tyrus Wheat and OT Drew Shelton. Winters and Turpin were ruled out on Friday, Schoonmaker was questionable. Also playing off questionable tags are DT Kenny Clark (bakc) and DT Jonathan Bullard (calf).

Pickens has been playing through the shoulder issue for a few weeks, but the hamstring was a new addition to his injury report. We suspect the hamstring injury is what earned him the questionable tag on Friday, though it’s a moot point now. Staring down a likely shootout with a weak Arizona defense, Pickens, even at less than full strength, is a locked-in WR2 for Week 8.

It’s the second consecutive limited showing for the co-alpha receiver, who will likely need to upgrade to a full showing on Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend. Pickens has played through the shoulder issue for two weeks, but the hamstring ailment is worth monitoring as the weekend approaches. Pickens is a viable WR2 in a solid matchup against the Cardinals, if active.

Pickens played through a minor shoulder injury last week, but the hamstring designation is new. He was still a limited practice participant, indicating neither injury should be an issue for his Week 8 status. Meanwhile, WR/KR KaVontae Turpin (ribs) was an estimated DNP in practice after not playing last week. The Cowboys may be missing Turpin again as a kick returner and gadget player on offense, but Pickens should still be the WR2 for Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Cowboys face the Eagles in Week 7’s Monday Night Football game, giving Pickens an extra day to recover. ESPN’s Todd Archer said yesterday that Pickens has been icing his shoulder in-game during the Cowboys’ last two games. He encouragingly practiced in full today. Start him as a WR2 as usual this week.

Reliable ESPN beat reporter Todd Archer notes that Pickens has had ice on his shoulder during the Cowboys’ last two games. He does not think that this injury threatens Pickens’ Week 7 availability. Thanks, Todd. Ideally, Pickens jumps back up to full participation tomorrow, and we head into Sunday carefree. Stay tuned.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
Pickens was targeted just once in the first half as the Cowboys were held under 100 yards of total offense before the break. He would remain quiet through the third quarter, adding a single catch to his ledger on two additional targets before seeing eight looks in the final frame with the Cowboys in desperation mode. The 11 targets finished second on the team to CeeDee Lamb’s 18 while the 73 yards slightly edged the 70 of Lamb. Pickens remains an upside WR2 ahead of a divisional matchup against the inside-funnel Eagles’ secondary in Week 7.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
Pickens was the primary target throughout the game against the single-high-heavy Buccaneers, scoring a late fourth quarter touchdown to cap off his first impressive fantasy outing of the young season. Furthermore, fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb departed the game in the fourth quarter with a quad injury that he was unable to play through, potentially setting up Pickens for immense volume in a Week 6 meeting with the Packers at Lambeau. Fantasy managers have patiently watched as Lamb stole the show through the first four games of 2026, but it now appears as if Pickens will have his time to shine, pending the severity of Lamb’s soft tissue injury. Pickens is a WR2 with Lamb active and a surefire WR1 with Lamb out.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
He had a 53-yard mossing of Kamari Lassiter in the third quarter to set up a big Cowboys drive, and also wound up drawing two different penalties against Lassiter in the end zone to sustain a touchdown drive, one on fourth down. Pickens isn’t playing poorly, but the Cowboys simply are feeding CeeDee Lamb and it’s hard to argue with the results. Eventually the touchdown worm will turn and Pickens will be back on the WR2 line against the Bucs in Week 5.

Saints head coach Kellen Moore said the team is still deciding when it will open Travis Etienne’s (hamstring) 21-day return window.

Etienne hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 3 against the Raiders. The 27-year-old back will need to have his 21-day return window opened before he can take the practice field, so we’ll see if Moore and the staff elect to designate him for a return ahead of Wednesday’s practice. Until that happens, Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and CJ Donaldson will continue to operate as the Saints’ top options, with Kamara the likely leader in what has been an underwhelming backfield this season.

Saints head coach Kellen Moore said the team is still deciding when it will open Jordyn Tyson’s (hamstring) 21-day return window.

When Tyson landed on injured reserve, the initial belief was that he would return sometime after the Saints’ bye week. Whether that is in Week 9 or the coming weeks is still to be determined, but we wouldn’t expect him to take the field the same week the team opens his return window. That said, opening that window for a return is the first step in getting Tyson back on the field. If he takes the field Wednesday, Tyson would then have 21 days to practice before the team would need to officially activate him from injured reserve. We could still be a few weeks away from seeing the the rookie first-rounder in action, but hopefully we get an encouraging update on his progression this week.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Buccaneers LB YaYa Diaby is dealing with a Grade 2 MCL sprain.

According to Rapoport, Diaby “should be back within a matter of weeks,” but it sounds like the fourth-year linebacker could avoid a stint on injured reserve. Diaby has totaled three sacks — all of which came in Week 7 against the Panthers- and also has 16 tackles and one interception this season. Diaby has started all eight games for the Bucs this year while playing on nearly 60 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans did not have an update on David Montgomery’s groin injury when speaking with the media on Monday

Montgomery, who missed the Texans’ last two games with his injury, is coming off the team’s Week 8 bye, and there was some hope he might be able to get on the field for Week 9’s game against the Chargers. While that may still be the case, it’s possible we will need to wait until Wednesday, when the team releases its first injury report, to see how Montgomery is trending heading into the weekend. The 29-year-old running back has struggled mightily this season even when healthy, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns on 52 carries while averaging a dismal 2.7 YPC. Even if he is active against the Chargers, Montgomery would be hard to trust as anything more than an RB3/Flex play given his performance pre-injury.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said “we’ll see” when asked if A.J. Brown (knee) could practice this week.

This is basically a non-answer from Vrabel, who said the team will see how Brown progresses through the week and how he responds to treatment. Brown missed Week 8’s game against the Dolphins after he suffered what was described as a flare up” of a knee issue that has plagued him for some time. It’s far too early to assume Brown will be able to go in Week 9 against the Packers given the timing of his injury last week, so his status will be one to keep an eye on throughout the week.

Chargers signed CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, formerly of the Titans.

Armour-Davis saw his 2025 season come to an end in Week 17 when he suffered a torn Achilles. The 27-year-old corner has spent the last 11 months rehabbing his injury and is now set to make his return for the winless Chargers. To the surprise of nobody, Armour-Davis is yet another player with ties to a Harbaugh brother, as he began his career playing under John Harbaugh with the Ravens from 2022 to 2024. Now, he’ll have a chance to play under Jim Harbaugh and could see playing time in the coming weeks once he gets up to speed. Armour-Davis allowed 24 receptions for 346 yards and two touchdowns on 31 targets last season while with the Titans, earning a PFF coverage grade up 49.6.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Breece Hall (quad) is “now good to go and should play next week” against the Chiefs.

It was reported on Sunday that Hall was “hoping for next week,” which is now here, as the Jets prepare to take on the Chiefs in Kansas City. After logging a week of limited practices and entering last weekend as questionable, Hall was still scratched from Week 8’s game against the Raiders, leading some to believe he had suffered a setback in his recovery. Hopefully that was more of a case of the Jets exercising caution with their RB1, especially with Braelon Allen playing well in his absence. Hall’s status will still be one to monitor, but this is a very optimistic report on him to start the week.

Jaguars DT DaVon Hamilton suffered a torn quad in Week 8’s win over the Colts.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the injury. This is expected to be a season-ender for Hamilton, who has totaled 16 tackles and a half sack this season. Hamilton has earned a 74.0 PFF defensive grade this season and is a key contributor top-five run defense.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said “we’re in the business of keeping good players” when asked if the team would consider trading Breece Hall before the deadline.

The Jets are 2-6 and Braelon Allen has put together a solid few weeks in Hall’s absence. As a result, there has been some speculation as to whether or not the Jets would consider moving Hall, who has missed the last five games with a quad injury. In addition to saying the Jets are “in the business of keeping good players,” Glenn also was sure to remind the media that Hall is “one of our better players,” suggesting there are no plans to move the 25-year-old back at this year’s deadline. If he’s able to play next week against the Chiefs, Hall would fall somewhere in the RB2 ranks in his return.

Saquon Barkley said the Eagles informed him that they don’t intend to trade him ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Speaking with the media early Monday morning, Barkley said he was informed that the team would not be trading him despite falling to 2-6 on the season after Sunday night’s loss to Washington. Barkley rushed 13 times for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss while catching one pass for another 24 yards. The soon-to-be 30-year-old back could have decent trade value for the Eagles in what is shaping up to be a lost season, but it sounds like he’s in the team’s future plans heading into 2027. Barkley is playing through injuries and has just 56 carries for 274 yards and two touchdowns this season, and has caught seven passes for another 41 yards. Assuming he can get in another week of practice this week, he’ll be a fringe RB1/RB2 in Week 9 against the Giants.
