George Pickens (shoulder/hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday.

It’s the second consecutive limited showing for the co-alpha receiver, who will likely need to upgrade to a full showing on Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend. Pickens has played through the shoulder issue for two weeks, but the hamstring ailment is worth monitoring as the weekend approaches. Pickens is a viable WR2 in a solid matchup against the Cardinals, if active.

Pickens played through a minor shoulder injury last week, but the hamstring designation is new. He was still a limited practice participant, indicating neither injury should be an issue for his Week 8 status. Meanwhile, WR/KR KaVontae Turpin (ribs) was an estimated DNP in practice after not playing last week. The Cowboys may be missing Turpin again as a kick returner and gadget player on offense, but Pickens should still be the WR2 for Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Cowboys face the Eagles in Week 7’s Monday Night Football game, giving Pickens an extra day to recover. ESPN’s Todd Archer said yesterday that Pickens has been icing his shoulder in-game during the Cowboys’ last two games. He encouragingly practiced in full today. Start him as a WR2 as usual this week.

Reliable ESPN beat reporter Todd Archer notes that Pickens has had ice on his shoulder during the Cowboys’ last two games. He does not think that this injury threatens Pickens’ Week 7 availability. Thanks, Todd. Ideally, Pickens jumps back up to full participation tomorrow, and we head into Sunday carefree. Stay tuned.

Pickens was targeted just once in the first half as the Cowboys were held under 100 yards of total offense before the break. He would remain quiet through the third quarter, adding a single catch to his ledger on two additional targets before seeing eight looks in the final frame with the Cowboys in desperation mode. The 11 targets finished second on the team to CeeDee Lamb’s 18 while the 73 yards slightly edged the 70 of Lamb. Pickens remains an upside WR2 ahead of a divisional matchup against the inside-funnel Eagles’ secondary in Week 7.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
Pickens was the primary target throughout the game against the single-high-heavy Buccaneers, scoring a late fourth quarter touchdown to cap off his first impressive fantasy outing of the young season. Furthermore, fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb departed the game in the fourth quarter with a quad injury that he was unable to play through, potentially setting up Pickens for immense volume in a Week 6 meeting with the Packers at Lambeau. Fantasy managers have patiently watched as Lamb stole the show through the first four games of 2026, but it now appears as if Pickens will have his time to shine, pending the severity of Lamb’s soft tissue injury. Pickens is a WR2 with Lamb active and a surefire WR1 with Lamb out.

He had a 53-yard mossing of Kamari Lassiter in the third quarter to set up a big Cowboys drive, and also wound up drawing two different penalties against Lassiter in the end zone to sustain a touchdown drive, one on fourth down. Pickens isn’t playing poorly, but the Cowboys simply are feeding CeeDee Lamb and it’s hard to argue with the results. Eventually the touchdown worm will turn and Pickens will be back on the WR2 line against the Bucs in Week 5.

Pickens finally looked like the player we expected to see after his breakout 2025 campaign. While we’re still waiting for the first true explosive play from Pickens this season, he did manage to haul in all four targets he saw in the intermediate area of the field and picked up 19 yards on a third-and-10 on a drive that ended with a Jake Ferguson touchdown two plays later. Pickens would have had a much bigger day if not for a 20-yard reception that was called back due to a penalty, but fantasy managers won’t be upset with this performance. We’ll see if he can build on this week’s outing next week against the Texans, where he will be on the WR2 radar.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #3
At some point, things will break in Pickens’ favor, but it was not to be in Sunday’s win over the Commanders, despite Dak Prescott throwing for 279-4-0 and having just five incompletions on the day. Pickens hasn’t generated any explosive plays yet, with his longest catch of the season coming on a 12-yard gain in the second quarter of today’s game. He’s still averaging 7.0 targets through the first two weeks of the season, so hopefully the big plays will follow soon. He should be treated as a high-end WR2 in next week’s game against the Ravens.

Pickens picked up two early receptions on the team’s first two possessions, contributing further by drawing a defensive pass interference penalty that would set up a CeeDee Lamb touchdown in the second quarter. An untimely drop on third down near the end of the first quarter halted any momentum he had in the box score as he would go on to notch a lone additional catch the rest of the game. The Cowboys managed only 52 offensive plays as they were dominated in both total offense and time of possession, while watching their defense allow the Giants to go 9-of-10 on third down. It is likely we see much more inspiring fantasy production the remainder of the season as Pickens plays out the year on the franchise tag. He enters a Week 2 home showdown against the Commanders as an upside WR2.

The July 15th deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term deals came and went without Pickens signing a new deal. Cowboys executive vice president Steven Jones had said in April that “there won’t be negotiations on a long-term deal” with Pickens. The 25-year-old wide receiver showed up for mandatory minicamp and does not plan to hold out of training camp, either. He will play on a $27.3 million franchise tag and will either reach a contract extension after the season or enter unrestricted free agency in 2027. Pickens will be the WR2 across from CeeDee Lamb in 2026; both have ceilings in the fantasy WR1 range.

Roquan Smith (knee) will play in Week 8 against the Bills.

Smith upgraded his level of participation with each practice this week, starting with an absence before moving to limited and, finally, a full session. He appears to be ready for a normal workload in the interior of the Baltimore defense, a welcome development for the Ravens as they prepare to face the Bills.

Vega Ioane (knee) won’t play in Baltimore’s Week 8 game against the Bills.

Ioane got in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday but was evasive when asked if he’d go at his locker yesterday. In the end, it would have been very impressive for him to play through a sprained MCL one week later. Ioane’s practice augurs well for his chances of playing in Week 10, at the very least. Week 9, on Thursday Night, might be too big of an ask.

Braelon Allen (ankkle) will play in Week 8 against the Raiders.

Allen ended the week of practice with consecutive full showings after being limited Wednesday, while backfield mate Breece Hall officially drew the questionable tag following a week full of limited sessions. Allen would remain an upside RB2 in a solid matchup should Hall be held out for another week, likely maintaining FLEX status should Hall play.

Kyle Hamilton (knee) is not on Baltimore’s final Week 8 injury report.

Hamilton managed a full session to clear the report after a Wednesday DNP. While the Ravens are missing some key players on defense, having their star safety ready to deal with Josh Allen is a big get for them in Week 8.

Mansoor Delane (shoulder) is questionable for Kansas City’s Week 8 game against the Broncos.

Delane didn’t practice either of the last two days after popping on to the injury report on Thursday. Andy Reid could only muster a “We’ll see how he does here going forward” when asked about it. We’d consider him on the pessimistic side of questionable.

Aaron Jones (knee) will play in Week 8 against the Lions.

Jones departed the team’s Week 7 win over the Colts after aggravating an existing knee issue. He was held out of practice Wednesday before retaking the practice field on consecutive days to end the week, ultimately deemed healthy enough to play against the division rival Lions in Week 8. Fantasy managers are likely best off finding a suitable alternative considering Jones is struggling through a sprained MCL and the team got Jordan Mason back a week ago, although managers in a bind can safely expect him to be on the field come Sunday.

Ed Oliver (knee) will play in Week 8 against the Ravens.

Oliver has been on the shelf since sustaining a knee injury in Week 4, returning in Week 8 following two missed games plus the team’s Week 7 bye. He played a healthy 81 percent snap rate in his only fully healthy game this season as he continues to struggle through multiple injuries, with his return a welcome sight for a defense that has allowed the second most yards and third most points per game this season.

Spencer Brown (back) is questionable for Buffalo’s Week 8 game against Baltimore.

Brown has a history of not practicing and getting up for the game on Sunday, so we wouldn’t necessarily read too far in to his two DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday. That said, it also wouldn’t be surprising if Brown had to sit against the Ravens on Sunday.

Jared Verse (knee) is not on Cleveland’s final Week 8 injury report.

The star edge player will go after a limited session on Thursday and a full practice on Friday. Cleveland’s in a good place this week on the injury report heading into their matchup with the Steelers.
