Non-PPR Mock Draft

This is a Non-PPR draft. It was conducted on the afternoon of Aug. 10. Unfortunately for Raymond Summerlin, news of Derrius Guice’s torn ACL broke literally minutes after he made his selection at No. 45 overall.

1. C.D. Carter (Draft Day Consultants)

2. Anthony Amico (RotoCurve)

3. Matt Harmon (Yahoo)

4. Raymond Summerlin (Rotoworld)

5. Patrick Daugherty (Rotoworld)

6. Jeff Ratcliffe (Pro Football Focus)

7. Al Zeidenfeld (ESPN)

8. Ben Gretch (Fantasy Insiders)

9. Davis Mattek (Taekcast)

10. Michael Gallagher (Rotoworld)

11. Ryan McDowell (DLF)

12. Chet Gresham (Walter Football)

Round 1

1. C.D. Carter — Le’Veon Bell, RB1

2. Anthony Amico — Todd Gurley, RB2

3. Matt Harmon — David Johnson, RB3

4. Raymond Summerlin — Ezekiel Elliott, RB4

5. Patrick Daugherty — Antonio Brown, WR1

6. Jeff Ratcliffe — Saquon Barkley, RB5

7. Al Zeidenfeld — Alvin Kamara, RB6

8. Ben Gretch — Melvin Gordon, RB7

9. Davis Mattek — Dalvin Cook, RB8

10. Michael Gallagher — Kareem Hunt, RB9

11. Ryan McDowell — Leonard Fournette, RB10

12. Chet Gresham — DeAndre Hopkins, WR2

Notes: Even in a Non-PPR league, I couldn’t bring myself to select Alvin Kamara over Antonio Brown. This is a question I have been struggling with all summer. I feel it is one of the defining dilemmas of this year’s drafts. Someone with more imagination is probably envisioning Kamara’s upside instead of focusing on the possibility of regression and certainty of overhype. … 10 running backs in the first round used to be standard-operating procedure in standard leagues but had become a rarity in recent years. The clear-cut RB1 tier is the deepest it has been in some time. … Chet has to be feeling quite happy about snagging the uber-consistent DeAndre Hopkins at No. 12 overall. Hopkins posts elite numbers even with Brian Hoyer or Tom Savage at quarterback. Imagine what he could do with 16 games of Deshaun Watson.

Round 2

13. Chet Gresham — Jordan Howard, RB11

14. Ryan McDowell — Devonta Freeman, RB12

15. Michael Gallagher — Julio Jones, WR3

16. Davis Mattek — Odell Beckham, WR4

17. Ben Gretch — Michael Thomas, WR5

18. Al Zeidenfeld — A.J. Green, WR6

19. Jeff Ratcliffe — Christian McCaffrey, RB13

20. Patrick Daugherty — Keenan Allen, WR7

21. Raymond Summerlin — Davante Adams, WR8

22. Matt Harmon — Rob Gronkowski, TE1

23. Anthony Amico — Jerick McKinnon, RB14

24. C.D. Carter — Mike Evans, WR9

Notes: There is so much focus on what Jordan Howard doesn’t do that we often forget what he does do. Of course, those questions swirl more in PPR than Non-PPR. … I was a little surprised to see Gallagher take Julio Jones over Odell Beckham but there really is no wrong way to rank the top four at wideout. … RB13 might seem steep for Christian McCaffrey in standard, but he was quietly the RB16 by total points last season. A three-spot jump is not only plausible, it’s likely. … Keenan Allen vs. Davante Adams is another question I have pondered all summer. Some days I prefer Aaron Rodgers’ No. 1, but Keenan healthy and unleashed was something to behold in 2017. … WR9 is right for Mike Evans. There’s still a great chance he vastly outperforms his draft position.

Round 3

25. C.D. Carter — T.Y. Hilton, WR10

26. Anthony Amico — Joe Mixon, RB15

27. Matt Harmon — Adam Thielen, WR11

28. Raymond Summerlin — Stefon Diggs, WR12

29. Patrick Daugherty — Lamar Miller, RB16

30. Jeff Ratcliffe — Travis Kelce, TE2

31. Al Zeidenfeld — Zach Ertz, TE3

32. Ben Gretch — Alex Collins, RB17

33. Davis Mattek — Demaryius Thomas, WR13

34. Michael Gallagher — Tyreek Hill, WR14

35. Ryan McDowell — Doug Baldwin, WR15

36. Chet Gresham — Jay Ajayi, RB18

Notes: T.Y. Hilton’s last season with Andrew Luck: 91/1,448/6. … Joe Mixon is someone who could crash the RB1 party, and not just at the low-end. … With Kirk Cousins’ target history serving as the tiebreaker, I think I prefer Stefon Diggs to Adam Thielen. … Lamar Miller is never someone you are going to feel happy about drafting, but the role is just too good and secure. With D’Onta Foreman completing his rehab from a torn Achilles’ tendon, there is nothing behind Miller on the depth chart. … Alex Collins is undervalued, especially in standard leagues. I defended Jordan Howard earlier, but what are the odds Collins out-points Howard? Certainly not zero. … Demaryius Thomas is becoming a bit of an undead zombie in fantasy leagues. You want to fade him, but you know the targets are not going away. Say what you will about Case Keenum, he supported two excellent fantasy receivers just fine in Minnesota.

Round 4

37. Chet Gresham — Larry Fitzgerald, WR16

38. Ryan McDowell — LeSean Mccoy, RB19

39. Michael Gallagher — Derrick Henry, RB20

40. Davis Mattek — Kenyan Drake, RB21

41. Ben Gretch — Josh Gordon, WR17

42. Al Zeidenfeld — Ronald Jones, RB22

43. Jeff Ratcliffe — Allen Robinson, WR18

44. Patrick Daugherty — Amari Cooper, WR19

45. Raymond Summerlin — Derrius Guice, RB23

46. Matt Harmon — Dion Lewis, RB24

47. Anthony Amico — JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR20

48. C.D. Carter — Jarvis Landry, WR21

Notes: LeSean McCoy’s situation is clear as mud. Even if he is eventually cleared in the eyes of the law, we know the NFL will come to its own conclusions. … Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis went seven picks apart. This is one of the situations where we simply aren’t going to know the truth until the regular season. Offseason speak and preseason usage won’t tell the story. … Frank Gore fear has turned Kenyan Drake into a low-end RB2. I don’t trust the Dolphins to employ correct usage, but if they do, Drake is going to be a super steal. … Best of luck, Josh Gordon drafters. … Ronald Jones scares me for the simple fact I don’t trust the Bucs coaching staff to do the right thing. Peyton Barber and Charles Sims are both teacher’s pets in Tampa. … Allen Robinson is a year removed from tearing his ACL, but let’s not take it for granted that Mitchell Trubisky will be better than Blake Bortles. … As mentioned in the lede, Ray’s pick of Derrius Guice was made literally minutes before his season-ending injury.

Round 5

49. C.D. Carter — Rex Burkhead, RB25

50. Anthony Amico — Mark Ingram, RB26

51. Matt Harmon — Emmanuel Sanders, WR22

52. Raymond Summerlin — Marvin Jones, WR23

53. Patrick Daugherty — Marshawn Lynch, RB27

54. Jeff Ratcliffe — Alshon Jeffery, WR24

55. Al Zeidenfeld — Royce Freeman, RB28

56. Ben Gretch — Rashaad Penny, RB29

57. Davis Mattek — Chris Hogan, WR25

58. Michael Gallagher — Marlon Mack, RB30

59. Ryan McDowell — Brandin Cooks, WR26

60. Chet Gresham — Michael Crabtree, WR27

Notes: The Rex Burkhead tea leaves have been positive, but man are things going to be wild in the Patriots’ backfield. … I would maybe prefer Mark Ingram more in the RB30-34 range, but if he returns with his 2017 usage, Amico is going to be very happy. … Gretch was smart to stop Rashaad Penny’s slide. Despite the Seahawks’ nonstop Chris Carson love affair, this does not strike me as a coaching staff that is going to be able to overlook Penny’s draft position. That used to be a Pete Carroll hallmark, but times seem to be changing as the roster deteriorates. … There’s a chance Chris Hogan is the biggest 2018 bargain in all of fantasy football. … Marlon Mack has high-end RB2 upside and “dropped by October 1” downside. … Brandin Cooks is going to be a bigger Rams factor than Sammy Watkins was, but WR26 feels oddly appropriate.

Round 6

61. Chet Gresham — Greg Olsen, TE4

62. Ryan McDowell — Evan Engram, TE5

63. Michael Gallagher — Golden Tate, WR28

64. Davis Mattek — Sony Michel, RB31

65. Ben Gretch — Corey Davis, WR29

66. Al Zeidenfeld — Pierre Garcon, WR30

67. Jeff Ratcliffe — Isaiah Crowell, RB32

68. Patrick Daugherty — Marquise Goodwin, WR31

69. Raymond Summerlin — Tevin Coleman, RB33

70. Matt Harmon — Sammy Watkins, WR32

71. Anthony Amico — Randall Cobb, WR33

72. C.D. Carter — Will Fuller, WR34

Notes: I have a hard time believing Greg Olsen will get back to his TE4 roots, but he arrives at a part of the tight end board littered with question marks. … For my money, I’m taking Evan Engram, even with regression and target competition concerns. … Marquise Goodwin … I may have let camp reports get the best of me. I also can’t shake the memory of what he did with Jimmy Garoppolo last season. … Sammy Watkins has had such a strange career. I expect him to improve on 2017, but it is tough to say how things might shake out between the Chiefs’ top two wideouts. … Will Fuller is a standard league receiver if there ever was one.

Round 7

73. C.D. Carter — Jamaal Williams, RB34

74. Anthony Amico — Jordan Reed, TE6

75. Matt Harmon — Kerryon Johnson, RB35

76. Raymond Summerlin — Devontae Booker, RB36

77. Patrick Daugherty — Carlos Hyde, RB37

78. Jeff Ratcliffe — Aaron Rodgers, QB1

79. Al Zeidenfeld — Cooper Kupp, WR35

80. Ben Gretch — Russell Wilson, QB2

81. Davis Mattek — DeVante Parker, WR36

82. Michael Gallagher — Jamison Crowder, WR37

83. Ryan McDowell — Robby Anderson, WR38

84. Chet Gresham — Tom Brady, QB3

Notes: We waited too long on quarterbacks, as usual. You will not see this in many home-league drafts, but it is a reminder … you can and should wait. Quarterback is as deep as it’s been in recent memory. … Jamaal Williams is a very workmanlike pick for 2018. I like Aaron Jones more, but he’s been banged up in camp and is suspended two games. Williams could be a plug-and-play guy for a while, if not the entire season. … We’ve decided we don’t like Carlos Hyde this summer. I would be lying if I said I was wild about it, but he could still end up a free-money RB3 for my squad. … Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods are tough nuts to crack this season. Kupp certainly seems to have an above-average rapport with Jared Goff. … Jamison Crowder is a textbook post-hype sleeper, especially with Mr. Underneath himself at quarterback in Alex Smith.

Round 8

85. Chet Gresham — Tarik Cohen, RB38

86. Ryan McDowell — Deshaun Watson, QB4

87. Michael Gallagher — Jimmy Graham, TE7

88. Davis Mattek — Jack Doyle, TE8

89. Ben Gretch — Delanie Walker, TE9

90. Al Zeidenfeld — Devin Funchess, WR39

91. Jeff Ratcliffe — Kelvin Benjamin, WR40

92. Patrick Daugherty — George Kittle, TE10

93. Raymond Summerlin — Julian Edelman, WR41

94. Matt Harmon — Kenny Stills, WR42

95. Anthony Amico — Cam Newton, QB5

96. C.D. Carter — Jordy Nelson, WR43

Notes: The Bears are talking up a Darren Sproles-type role for Tarik Cohen. We’ll see. … McDowell did not get a discount on Deshaun Watson. A dual-threat coming back from a leg injury who is guaranteed to regress in the touchdown department, I remain wary. … Tight end pretty much goes off the rails after the top two. It’s a free-for-all this year. … Kelvin Benjamin had qualms with Cam Newton’s accuracy. Thoughts and prayers with Josh Allen. … I love George Kittle, but I acknowledge his downside is as high as his upside. It’s a roll of the dice. … Can 2018 Jordy Nelson be better than 2017 Michael Crabtree? That’s the bar.

Round 9

97. C.D. Carter — Robert Woods, WR44

98. Anthony Amico — Kenny Golladay, WR45

99. Matt Harmon — C.J. Anderson, RB39

100. Raymond Summerlin — Kyle Rudolph, TE11

101. Patrick Daugherty — Andrew Luck, QB6

102. Jeff Ratcliffe — Sterling Shepard, WR46

103. Al Zeidenfeld — Trey Burton, TE12

104. Ben Gretch — Nelson Agholor, WR47

105. Davis Mattek — Chris Thompson, RB40

106. Michael Gallagher — Chris Carson, RB41

107. Ryan McDowell — D.J. Moore, WR48

108. Chet Gresham — Allen Hurns, WR49

Notes: C.J. Anderson’s usage was not promising in the preseason opener. Perhaps it was a blip. … Kenny Golladay has all the upside in the world, but remains his team’s WR3. That’s a tough spot to find consistent WR3 value in fantasy. … The human body heals. I have confidence in Andrew Luck. … I’m also confident Sterling Shepard will be a top-40 receiver. … We showed patience with Trey Burton. This is the appropriate place to take someone with his combination of upside and limited track record. … The Seahawks have traditionally been a meritocracy. Chris Carson is going to show if they still are. … Would anyone be stunned if D.J. Moore out-produced Devin Funchess?

Round 10

109. Chet Gresham — James White, RB42

110. Ryan McDowell — Chris Godwin, WR50

111. Michael Gallagher — Cameron Meredith, WR51

112. Davis Mattek — Drew Brees, QB7

113. Ben Gretch — Giovani Bernard, RB43

114. Al Zeidenfeld — Kirk Cousins, QB8

115. Jeff Ratcliffe — Anthony Miller, WR52

116. Patrick Daugherty — Nick Chubb, RB44

117. Raymond Summerlin — Duke Johnson, RB45

118. Matt Harmon — Rishard Matthews, WR53

119. Anthony Amico — Samaje Perine, RB46

120. C.D. Carter — Ty Montgomery, RB47

Notes: Chris Godwin or Cameron Meredith is an interesting 2018 debate. Personally, I would go with the guy catching passes from Drew Brees. … Anthony Miller has drawn hype from the opening practice of Bears OTAs. … I guess I’m handcuffing Carlos Hyde with Nick Chubb. The less optimistic view is that they will cannibalize each other’s fantasy value. … Rishard Matthews’ mysterious injury remained mysterious as of Monday August 13. … Ty Montgomery could be one of this year’s most unheralded RB3s.

Round 11

121. C.D. Carter — David Njoku, TE13

122. Anthony Amico — Tyler Lockett, WR54

123. Matt Harmon — Josh Doctson, WR55

124. Raymond Summerlin — Aaron Jones, RB48

125. Patrick Daugherty — Keelan Cole, WR56

126. Jeff Ratcliffe — Rob Kelley, RB49

127. Al Zeidenfeld — Bilal Powell, RB50

128. Ben Gretch — Latavius Murray, RB51

129. Davis Mattek — Theo Riddick, RB52

130. Michael Gallagher — Matt Breida, RB53

131. Ryan McDowell — Jordan Wilkins, RB54

132. Chet Gresham — Corey Clement, RB55

Notes: David Njoku had maybe the most intriguing preseason opener of any player. … WR54 seems like an extreme bargain for Tyler Lockett. … Keelan Cole had the least talked about 42/748/3 rookie campaign ever. ... Is Bilal Powell going to kill Isaiah Crowell’s vibe? … Reserve running backs are important.

Round 12

133. Chet Gresham — Tyrell Williams, WR57

134. Ryan McDowell — Jaguars, DEF1

135. Michael Gallagher — Michael Gallup, WR58

136. Davis Mattek — Kenny Britt, WR59

137. Ben Gretch — Marqise Lee, WR60

138. Al Zeidenfeld — John Brown, WR61

139. Jeff Ratcliffe — Calvin Ridley, WR62

140. Patrick Daugherty — Tyler Eifert, TE14

141. Raymond Summerlin — Mike Williams, WR63

142. Matt Harmon — Carson Wentz, QB9

143. Anthony Amico — Donte Moncrief, WR64

144. C.D. Carter — LeGarrette Blount, RB56

Notes: Michael Gallup is this year’s Sterling Shepard, a day-two rookie forced into a guaranteed high-target role. … Kenny Britt has had a no-buzz summer. There’s an equal chance that’s good or bad. … I would love to see John Brown become a thing again. … TE14 felt appropriate for Tyler Eifert. It would be worth it if he plays 12 games.

Round 13

145. C.D. Carter — Jimmy Garoppolo, QB10

146. Anthony Amico — Paul Richardson, WR65

147. Matt Harmon — Peyton Barber, RB57

148. Raymond Summerlin — Matthew Stafford, QB11

149. Patrick Daugherty — C.J. Prosise, RB57

150. Jeff Ratcliffe — Ben Roethlisberger, QB12

151. Al Zeidenfeld — Martavis Bryant, WR66

152. Ben Gretch — Austin Ekeler, RB58

153. Davis Mattek — Stephen Gostkowski, K1

154. Michael Gallagher — Pat Mahomes, QB13

155. Ryan McDowell — Rams, DEF2

156. Chet Gresham — Danny Amendola, WR67

Notes: Dirk Koetter can’t quit Peyton Barber. His ADP could rise into the RB40s. … C.J. Prosise is a better flier in PPR, but liable to be left off the 53-man roster in every format.

Round 14

157. Chet Gresham — Cole Beasley, WR68

158. Ryan McDowell — Taywan Taylor, WR69

159. Michael Gallagher — Quincy Enunwa, WR70

160. Davis Mattek — Eagles, DEF3

161. Ben Gretch — Chargers, DEF4

162. Al Zeidenfeld — Kenneth Dixon, RB59

163. Jeff Ratcliffe — Dez Bryant, WR71

164. Patrick Daugherty — Corey Coleman, WR72

165. Raymond Summerlin — Vikings, DEF5

166. Matt Harmon — Texans, DEF6

167. Anthony Amico — Eric Ebron, TE15

168. C.D. Carter — Geronimo Allison, WR73

Notes: Taywan Taylor is probably this round’s highest-upside player. … Quincy Enunwa was looking like a nice sleeper until he injured his thumb. It’s been a while since he played a football game.

Round 15

169. C.D. Carter — Justin Tucker, K2

170. Anthony Amico — Greg Zuerlein, K3

171. Matt Harmon — Matt Bryant, K4

172. Raymond Summerlin — Chris Boswell, K5

173. Patrick Daugherty — Patriots, DEF7

174. Jeff Ratcliffe — Ravens, DEF8

175. Al Zeidenfeld — Saints, DEF9

176. Ben Gretch — DeSean Jackson, WR74

177. Davis Mattek — Dede Westbrook, WR75

178. Michael Gallagher — Broncos, DEF10

179. Ryan McDowell — O.J. Howard, TE16

180. Chet Gresham — Bears, DEF11

Notes: Stream defenses.

Round 16

181. Chet Gresham — Matt Prater, K6

182. Ryan McDowell — Harrison Butker, K7

183. Michael Gallagher — Wil Lutz, K8

184. Davis Mattek — T.J. Yeldon, RB60

185. Ben Gretch — Jake Elliott, K9

186. Al Zeidenfeld — Mason Crosby, K10

187. Jeff Ratcliffe — Robbie Gould, K11

188. Patrick Daugherty — Adam Vinatieri, K12

189. Raymond Summerlin — Ryan Grant, WR76

190. Matt Harmon — Mohamed Sanu, WR77

191. Anthony Amico — Steelers, DEF12

192. C.D. Carter — Packers, DEF13

Notes: Don’t draft kickers, add them before Week 1.
