Player Overview
2023: Entering a contract year, Higgins was looking for a breakout campaign to get him paid in the offseason. He instead got an injury-riddled campaign that saw him miss five games on the way to career lows across the board. Higgins missed four games with a rib injury early in the year and sat out the final week because of a calf issue. The nagging injuries certainly didn’t do Higgins any favors as he marched toward a low watermark in yards per route run (1.7) in his fourth season.
What’s changed: Higgins was the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason after he was unable to get a long-term extension from the Bengals. Cincinnati placed the franchise tag on him and he appears set to play a final year with the team before hitting the open market in 2025. Bengals OC Brian Callahan was hired away by the Titans in the offseason and Tyler Boyd was replaced with rookie receiver Jermaine Burton.
Outlook: Higgins was on the injury report for half of the season on top of missing a few games. Joe Burrow also closed out the year on the bench because of a thumb issue. If the two are healthy for the 2024 season, Higgins should have no problem rebounding for WR2 fantasy numbers.
