Player Overview
2023: The Bills' offense wasn’t bad for the first 12 weeks of the season, but the team was universally considered to be underachieving after their shocking loss to Denver in Week 12. Their woes, however, didn’t affect Stefon Diggs in the slightest. At that point, Diggs was averaging 7.3 grabs for 87 yards per week and had eight touchdowns. The Bills then fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and Diggs started to disappear from the offense. He averaged 4.9 receptions for 43 yards from Week 13 through Buffalo’s Divisional Round loss to the Chiefs. Diggs scored one time over that stretch and peaked at 89 yards.
What’s changed: Diggs had shown some signs of discontent with his team for years and things finally came to a boiling point this offseason. Buffalo finally pulled the trigger and traded Diggs to Houston in exchange for a second-round pick. Diggs will now have to compete for targets with Nico Collins and Tank Dell, both hot off breakout seasons.
Outlook: Coming off a nightmare stretch of games to close the year and now 30 years old, it’s hard to see Diggs stepping into a new, talent-rich offense and dominating the target volume. He will still have explosive weekly upside with C.J. Stroud as his quarterback, but the production won’t be as consistent in Houston, pointing toward a WR2 finish for Diggs.
