Player Overview
2023: Although Hurts’ passing numbers dropped off big time from his 2022 domination, his 15 rushing touchdowns — thanks mostly to the unstoppable tush push goal line play — helped him earn the No. 2 QB spot in fantasy football, trailing only Josh Allen. Hurts struggled through a mystery knee ailment for much of the 2023 season and saw adjusted yards per attempt drop to a career low 6.8. He threw 15 interceptions after just six picks in 2022. Hurts’ rush attempt total remained similar to 2022, but his rushing efficiency fell off.
What’s changed: Hurts is reportedly fully recovered from last year’s knee issue. The Eagles brought in Saquon Barkley to serve as the team’s lead back in Hurts’ backfield, and the team hired former Chargers OC Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator.
Outlook: Hurts’ fantasy prospects hinge on whether the Eagles continue running the most efficient play in all of football: The tush push. The retirement of offensive line linchpin Jason Kelce could lead to fewer tush push attempts for Hurts — and fewer easy rushing scores. If that comes to pass, Hurts’ passing efficiency numbers are going to have to spike if he's going to be a top-three fantasy option once again. Hurts should maintain a fantastic weekly floor in any circumstance.
