Player Overview
2023: Last season went about as well as one would have expected for Pickett, who threw for a meager 2,404-7-9 in 12 starts for the Steelers as a rookie. In his 12 starts, Pickett threw for 2,070-6-4. While a poor offensive scheme can be blamed for some of Pickett’s failures, his overall conservative style of play and inability to lift an offense to new heights proved to be his undoing. An ankle injury suffered in Week 13 sidelined him for four weeks, but when he was able to return he had lost the starting job to veteran Mason Rudolph, ending an otherwise disappointing second season.
What’s changed: The Steelers signed Russell Wilson this offseason, and sent a miffed Pickett to the Eagles in exchange for draft picks. Now the backup to Jalen Hurts, Pickett will look to reset his career in the City of Brotherly Love.
Outlook: Pickett’s fantasy ceiling is non-existent as long as Hurts is healthy. It doesn’t get much better if he were to draw a few starts. Despite a talented group of receivers, Pickett’s limitations make him hard to trust in the short and long-term. He’s thrown 13 touchdowns in 25 career games, which is kind of all we need to know at this point.
