2023: The Commanders gave up the dream, making Gibson a pure change-of-pace back on early downs while keeping him static in the passing game. Gibson’s 48 receptions still ranked 17th amongst running backs, but he didn’t score enough or catch enough passes to crack the top 36 in overall PPR points. 

What’s changed: The Patriots signed Gibson in the opening moments of free agency, pairing him with Rhamondre Stevenson. The Pats dramatically curtailed Stevenson’s receiving work last season, leaving a wide third-down lane for Gibson to drive through. Of course, there is little reason to expect consequential Gibson usage between the tackles.

Outlook: Gibson has somehow stumbled into an even worse offensive environment than the 2023 Commanders. He’s going to have a hard time creating RB4 value in PPR leagues.
