2023: Last season Thielen was fantastic from a fantasy standpoint when Bryce Young was sidelined with injury. With Young under center, Thielen was barely usable in fantasy leagues. Running 70% of his routes from the slot, Thielen caught 103 of his 136 targets for 1,014 yards and three touchdowns in a miserable Carolina offense. Only nine wideouts had more receptions than Thielen in 2023.

What’s changed: The Panthers selected South Carolina WR Xavier Legette in the 2024 draft and acquired Diontae Johnson from the Steelers. The team also hired former Bucs OC Dave Canales as head coach.

Outlook: Johnson’s arrival in Carolina is bad news for Thielen, the only viable option in the team’s dead-on-arrival passing offense last season. Still, the crafty veteran will remain a starter and he should serve as an underneath safety valve for Young. Though Johnson is likely going to be the team’s WR1, Thielen could have some intrigue in deeper PPR formats.
