Zach Edey (left ankle sprain) is out for Sunday’s game against the Pacers.
Edey has been out for nearly two weeks, and there’s hope he’ll be available soon. Sunday will not be the day, with the Grizzlies announcing that he’s out. Brandon Clarke’s role as starting center should remain the same even after Edey returns.

Jakob Poeltl (illness) is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Thunder.
Poeltl has been excellent this season, so it would be a real shame if he were to miss Thursday’s matchup with Oklahoma City. Chris Boucher has the most upside of potential fill-ins if Poeltl can’t go, but wouldn’t be a recommended streamer in that event.
  • MIL Small Forward #22
Khris Middleton (bilateral ankle surgery) will make his season debut against the Celtics on Friday, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Middleton was cleared to play towards the end of November and participated in a 5-on-5 practice last week. Upon his return from ankle surgery, it’s reasonable to expect him to be on a minutes restriction. Andre Jackson Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. will likely see less playing time with Middleton back.
  • LAC Small Forward #7
Amir Coffey recorded a stat line of 12 points (5-of-9 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Timberwolves.
Norman Powell (hamstring) still isn’t at the point where he can play both ends of back-to-backs, as he only returned to the lineup on Sunday. As a result, Coffey moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday, finishing in double figures for the fourth consecutive game. Due to the Clippers not playing again until Sunday, Coffey isn’t a must-hold in most leagues. However, Terance Mann (finger) being sidelined for at least three weeks gives Amir a shot at retaining some value in the short term.
  • LAC Small Forward #55
Derrick Jones Jr. accounted for 14 points (5-of-12 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), two rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to Minnesota.
After scoring 16 points in three games, Jones has scored 29 in his last two. Wednesday’s result wasn’t good, but the scoring represents a small step in the right direction for Airplane Mode. Rostered in 10% of Yahoo leagues, Jones remains ranked well outside the top 100 in 9-cat formats. As was the case during his time with the Mavericks, he’s more valuable to his team than to fantasy managers.
  • LAC Point Guard #1
James Harden shot 1-of-10 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Wednesday’s loss to the Timberwolves, scoring five points with three rebounds, three assists, and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.
Even if one were to give Harden and the Clippers some leeway due to Wednesday’s game being the second in as many nights, their performance against the Timberwolves was poor. The Beard shot 1-of-10 from the field before Tyronn Lue mercifully pulled the plug during the third quarter. Harden and the Clippers will get some much-needed rest, as they don’t play again until Sunday night.
  • MIN Center #27
Rudy Gobert accumulated eight points (3-of-4 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and one blocked shot in 29 minutes in Wednesday’s win over the Clippers.
Known for his shot-blocking ability, Gobert was basketball’s version of the Hamburglar on Wednesday. He matched his career high with five steals and recorded nine rebounds and one blocked shot in 29 minutes of action. Shooting 73.5% from the field and 76.9% from the foul line, Gobert has been a top-40 player over the last two weeks.
  • MIN Shooting Guard #5
Anthony Edwards amassed 16 points (5-of-14 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and four 3-pointers in 26 minutes in Wednesday’s win over the Clippers.
After averaging 37.0 minutes per game in November, the Timberwolves’ blowouts of the Lakers and Clippers to begin December have gotten Edwards extra time on the bench. He played 27 minutes in both games. While that hasn’t done fantasy managers any favor, Edwards getting a little more rest isn’t bad, given the workload he’s asked to carry.
  • MIN Power Forward #30
Julius Randle finished Wednesday’s 108-80 win over the Clippers with 20 points (8-of-16 FGs), four rebounds, four assists, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 26 minutes.
Randle and the Timberwolves came out of the gates firing, looking the fresher team against a group that played on Tuesday. He scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half, and the suspense was gone by the end of the third quarter. While fantasy managers may have wanted to see more of Randle, he should be well-rested for Friday’s game against the Warriors.
  • ATL Power Forward #1
Jalen Johnson led all Hawks with 23 points (10-of-19 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), 13 rebounds, five rebounds, two steals, and a block against the Bucks on Wednesday.
Johnson has gone over 20 points in six of his previous seven games and recorded his first double-double in five games against the Bucks. The Hawks wing is carrying over his strong play from November into December despite his team’s improved health.
  • MIL Point Guard #0
Damian Lillard scored 25 points (8-of-14 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs) with four rebounds, five rebounds, steal, with five three-pointers.
Lillard has scored at least 25 points in five consecutive contests. He made at least three three-pointers in all of those contests. Lillard’s playmaking surge is on the downstroke, but he’s scoring at a high rate as the most important part of Milwaukee’s undermanned backcourt.
