Portis hasn’t necessarily been a bad fantasy player this season, but he’s someone many fantasy managers hoped would approach top-100 per-game value. That hasn’t happened, as he’s ranked outside the top 150, and it’s fair to wonder if he’s dealing with a lower ceiling than anticipated. Portis has played 25 minutes or more in six of his first 15 games; in 2023-24, he met or exceeded that number in more than half (42) of his 82 appearances.

Davion Mitchell (head) will start alongside Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Pelle Larsson and Bam Adebayo on Friday against the Hawks.

Mitchell was upgraded from questionable to available, as the Heat look to put together back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly one month. Mitchell, the team’s leader in assists per game, should play a pivotal role in getting Miami’s scorers going. Andrew Wiggins’ and Tyler Herro’s returns from injury should also benefit the Heat.

John Konchar

UTA Guard #55

Kyle Filipowski, Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier, Ace Bailey and John Konchar will start against the Grizzlies on Friday.

Down several key starters, the injury-hit Jazz will piece together a rarely-used opening unit against the Grizzlies. The two teams split their first couple of meetings this season, and Memphis and Utah could use a win on Friday to get back in the win column. They’ll meet once more in April.

The Grizzlies are without Ty Jerome, Cedric Coward and Scotty Pippen Jr. for Friday’s game, among others. Wells and Jackson are the holdovers from the Grizzlies’ final game before the All-Star break, with Mashack, Hendricks and Lovering moving into the starting five. Of the three replacements, Hendricks is the one who offers the highest fantasy ceiling.

Tyus Jones

DAL Guard #1
Tyus Jones, Naji Marshall, Khris Middleton, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford will start Friday’s game against the Timberwolves.

Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd told reporters that Jones will start on Friday. He’ll replace Max Christie (ankle) in the opening unit to provide the team with some playmaking and ball-handling at the lead guard position. Jones was recently acquired by the Mavericks via trade; he’s averaging 3.0 points and 4.3 assists in 17.0 minutes per game in his three appearances with Dallas. Joining Jones in the starting lineup are Naji Marshall, Khris Middleton, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford.

Kam Jones

IND Guard #7
Kam Jones, T.J. McConnell, Ben Sheppard, Jarace Walker and Jay Huff will start Friday’s game against the Wizards.

The Pacers won’t have Andrew Nembhard or Aaron Nesmith for Friday’s game, opening up two spots in the starting lineup. Jones and McConnell, who were initially listed as questionable, will fill the resulting voids. While neither player is a must-stream option, they’re worth a look in deep leagues due to the Pacers’ lack of perimeter depth.

Bub Carrington, Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, Justin Champagnie and Tristan Vukčević will start Friday’s game against the Pacers.

The Wizards won’t have Kyshawn George for Friday’s game, as he’s out with a toe injury. Champagnie moves into the starting lineup, raising his ceiling and making him a player worth streaming. That’s the lone change to the starting five.

Sion James

CHA Guard #4

Sion James, LaMelo Ball, Ryan Kalkbrenner, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel will start vs. the Cavaliers on Friday.

James will start in place of Grant Williams on the second game of a back-to-back for the Hornets. Charlotte, one of the hottest teams in basketball, will look to avoid consecutive losses, which haven’t happened since the beginning of January. The Hornets are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings but just a half-game behind the Hawks for 9th place.

Sam Merrill

CLE Guard #5

James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Sam Merrill, Dean Wade and Jarrett Allen will start Friday’s game against the Hornets.

Friday’s game is the second in as many nights for the Cavaliers, so Evan Mobley (calf) sits for injury management reasons. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Merrill, who can offer points and three-pointers in what should be a high-scoring game.
