Tari Eason shot 8-of-14 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line in Friday’s win over Portland, scoring 22 points with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes.
The Rockets are ranked eighth in the NBA in bench points per game, thanks primarily to the play of Eason and Amen Thompson. Both shined on Friday, with the former averaging one point per minute and the latter posting a double-double and complete stat line. Eason is ranked just outside the top 30 in 9-cat formats, and his skill set is such that there should not be much of a drop-off as the season progresses. He should be rostered in far more than 55% of Yahoo leagues.
  • CHI Small Forward #15
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
Julian Phillips (upper respiratory illness) is out for Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Phillips’ absence likely frees up additional minutes for rookie Matas Buzelis, but this will not impact fantasy basketball.
  • IND Point Guard #26
Ben Sheppard (left oblique strain) is out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Sheppard will miss a third straight game, which means Quenton Jackson should remain in the starting lineup. Jackson has been an 11th-round player over the last week, and T.J. McConnell is a better streaming option than him despite coming off the bench.
  • WAS Center #00
Tristan Vukcevic (left knee contusion) is out for Sunday’s game against the Pacers.
Vukcevic isn’t in the rotation when healthy, so his absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #13
Jordan Poole (left hip flexor soreness) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Pacers.
Poole, one of the most improved players in the NBA, lands on the injury report for Sunday’s game. Bub Carrington should move back into the starting lineup if Poole cannot play. This would give the rookie’s fantasy value a welcome boost, as he’s taken a hit with Malcolm Brogdon back in the lineup.
  • DET Small Forward #9
Ausar Thompson (return to competition conditioning) is available for Saturday’s game against the Magic.
Thompson is available to make his season debut after blood clots ended his rookie campaign in March. Fantasy managers should not expect too much immediately, but Ausar’s skill set is similar to twin brother Amen’s. Once fully cleared, he won’t need too many minutes to impact fantasy basketball.
  • ORL Shooting Guard #3
Jalen Suggs, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Franz Wagner, Tristan da Silva, and Goga Bitadze will start Saturday’s game against the Pistons.
Caldwell-Pope is back after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Lakers for personal reasons. As a result, Gary Harris returns to the bench and is not worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.
  • LAC Small Forward #24
Norman Powell (left hamstring strain) will not play in Sunday’s game against Philadelphia.
Sunday’s game will be the third Powell has missed after straining his hamstring during the Clippers’ November 18 win over Golden State. Amir Coffey should continue to fill the void in the starting lineup, and he’s worth streaming until Powell returns.
  • DAL Center #21
Daniel Gafford (left shoulder soreness) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Heat.
Gafford played 27 productive minutes off the bench in Friday’s win over Denver, and a potential absence would undoubtedly impact the Mavericks’ rotation and fantasy basketball. While Dereck Lively II would pick up a few minutes, he isn’t guaranteed to shoulder most of the workload. Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell would also be in position for rotation minutes, limiting Lively’s fantasy ceiling.
  • ORL Center #34
Wendell Carter Jr. (left foot plantar fasciitis) is out for Saturday’s game against Detroit.
Carter will miss an 11th straight game due to injury, meaning Goga Bitadze remains in the starting lineup. He should be rostered until the Magic clear WCJ to return.
  • MIN Point Guard #4
Rob Dillingham (right ankle sprain) is not on the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Celtics.
Dillingham injured his ankle during Thursday’s loss to the Raptors, exiting after playing a shade under 10 minutes. With Mike Conley (toe) sidelined, a few minutes may be available to the rookie, but he’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball.
