Despite Saturday’s game being Washington’s of summer league, the Wizards had their first-round pick shoulder a full workload. Bub played 35 of a possible 40 minutes and was highly active on the boards, grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds while accumulating 13 points and five assists. Washington added Malcolm Brogdon via the Deni Avdija trade, and he should serve as a quality mentor to Carrington as he gets used to the NBA game. While he will not be an elite fantasy option immediately, Washington being in rebuild mode makes Carrington one of the more attractive rookies in fantasy basketball.

Reeves was waived by the Pelicans on July 3 but still suited up for them during summer league. New Orleans drafted him in the second round in 2024, and now he’ll get a fresh start with the Hornets. Reeves will provide some shooting off the bench in Charlotte.

Waters enjoyed a solid start to last season with the Warriors, but he wasn’t offered as significant of a role when he was dealt to the Pistons. Now, he’ll get a fresh start with San Antonio, though minutes may be difficult to come by. He’ll provide some floor-spacing in the rotation, but it is unlikely he plays a significant role.

Thompson signed a two-way deal with the Magic in February but spent his time in the G League and didn’t appear for Orlando. Now, they’ll clear his roster spot after they signed Orlando Robinson to a two-way deal on Monday.

Traded to the Wizards on July 8, Wesley agreed to a contract buyout and became an unrestricted free agent. He’s now headed to Portland on a one-year deal that will be fully guaranteed. Wesley offered little fantasy value during his time with the Spurs, and that’s unlikely to change in Portland. In addition to the offseason acquisition of Jrue Holiday, the Blazers return Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, who will play plenty.

Jones-Garcia was one of the stars of the summer, playing exceptionally well for the Spurs in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. After his showing at the latter tournament, he was named a first-team All-Summer League player. Jones-Garcia garnered interest from Greek power Olympiacos. However, the player turned down the offer, and he has reportedly agreed to a two-way contract with the Spurs. While San Antonio’s perimeter depth will make it difficult for Jones-Garcia to get the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball, he’s sticking with a franchise he’s comfortable with.

Filipowski averaged 29.3 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 39 percent from behind the three-point line. With Utah trading John Collins, there’s an opening in the starting lineup for the 21-year-old power forward. Filipowski did just about everything he could this summer to stake his claim on the starting power forward job.

Okogie was waived by the Hornets last week. The 26-year-old shooting guard has averaged just 6.3 points per game over the course of his eight-year career, but offers substantially more on the defensive end. Okogie ranked behind only Dyson Daniels and Alex Caruso in steals per 100 possessions last season (min. 600 minutes played). Okogie continues to add to the depth the Rockets have built up this offseason.

Jemison appeared in 38 games during the 2024-25 season, with 22 coming as a member of the Lakers. In those 22 outings, the 6-foot-11 center averaged 2.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. Waiving Jemison was necessary, as the team needed to free up a two-way contract slot. Having already agreed to a two-way deal with undrafted rookie Eric Dixon after last month’s draft, the Lakers recently agreed to sign Christian Koloko and Chris Manon to similar deals.

To say the restricted free agency market has been harsh would be an understatement, as there has been little movement for multiple players. That includes Kuminga, the subject of some sign-and-trade rumors at the beginning of free agency. While Phoenix, who has moved on from Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, is reportedly interested in the athletic forward, getting him would be difficult. In addition to the Warriors having the right to match any offer sheet that Kuminga would sign, the Suns lack the necessary assets, especially draft capital, to make something happen. Phoenix has the cap space following the Durant and Beal exits, but the price paid to land those two stars has left the cupboard bare otherwise.

Robinson, who spent last season with the Raptors and Kings, will get a fresh start back in Florida after spending the first two years of his career with the Heat. Robinson will likely spend most of his time in the G League, and it will be a tall task for him to move up the depth chart with Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner playing the center minutes.
