Pau Gasol announced his retirement from basketball on Tuesday.
Gasol is a sure-fire first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. Not only did he have a stellar career in the NBA (winning the Rookie of the Year award, capturing two titles and averaging 17.0 points, 9.2 boards and 3.2 dimes over 1,226 regular-season games), but Gasol also won three Olympic medals and three Liga ACB titles with Barcelona.

Alex Caruso (ankle) and Jaylin Williams (ankle) are questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Pistons.
Caruso and Williams have been relatively health as of late off the pine. Cason Wallace and Kenrich Williams could play more important bench roles than usual if the aforementioned players can’t suit up.
  • CHA Shooting Guard #8
Nick Smith Jr. (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
Smith enjoyed a healthy bump in point production last month. Josh Okogie will have a chance to be a key part of the rotation off the bench if Smith is ruled out.
  • CHA Small Forward #0
Miles Bridges (illness) and Taj Gibson (illness) are questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
Bridges and Gibson are dealing with illnesses ahead of Wednesday’s matchup. Tidjane Salaun could get some extra burn if Bridges misses time. Gibson’s status shouldn’t affect fantasy basketball, though.
  • BKN Power Forward #20
Day’Ron Sharpe (knee) has no timetable for return.
Sharpe has missed four straight games with a knee injury and there’s no telling when he’ll return to the hardwood. Drew Timme is next in line to back up Nic Claxton at center.
  • BKN Small Forward #2
Cameron Johnson (back) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Johnson sat against the Mavericks with a hip injury and will now miss a second straight contest with a different ailment. Jalen Wilson will likely continue starting in his place against Minnesota.
  • BKN Power Forward #21
Noah Clowney (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Brooklyn is shutting down Clowney for the year. The big man’s latest ankle injury won’t allow him to play in any of his team’s remaining games. Trendon Watford and Drew Timme can take advantage of Clowney’s absence.
  • UTA Shooting Guard #2
Collin Sexton (pelvic) and Walker Kessler (conditioning) are available for Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.
Sexton and Kessler both missed Utah’s last game against Charlotte. It appears like they’re ready to return to their usual starting roles, though. Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski could return to bench roles.
  • DEN Center #15
Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 61 points (18-of-29 FGs, 19-of-24 FTs), 11 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and six three-pointers in a 140-139 double overtime loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday.
Denver played Tuesday’s game with their No. 2 and No. 3 scorers sidelined, which resulted in their top-scoring option having a monster night. Jokic set a new career-high for scoring and now holds the highest-scoring game in the NBA this season, surpassing De’Aaron Fox’s 60-point night in November. Jokic also joined an exclusive club of players to record a 60-point triple-double, with James Harden and Luka Doncic also having reached those marks in a single game. However, both Harden and Doncic scored exactly 60 points, making Jokic’s triple-double the highest-scoring in league history. Unfortunately, he is now 0-3 in his career when he scores at least 50 points in a game in his career. Still, it was a historic night that will help strengthen Jokic’s case for MVP.
  • MIN Shooting Guard #5
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 34 points (12-of-25 FGs), 10 rebounds, eight assists, one steal, five three-pointers and five turnovers in a 140-139 double overtime win over the Nuggets on Tuesday.
It was a slow start to the game for Edwards, but things started clicking for him late in the game. He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of triples with less than three minutes left in regulation that gave Minnesota a late lead. He added six more points in the first overtime period and five more in the second, which was enough for the Timberwolves to squeak out a road win over the Nuggets. After a few recent subpar performances, it was good to see Edwards catch fire at the end of the game, and he’ll look to carry that into Brooklyn on Thursday.
  • DEN Power Forward #32
Aaron Gordon lit up the Timberwolves with 30 points (9-of-15 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and four three-pointers on Tuesday.
AG stepped up on the offensive end with both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. sidelined. After scoring a total of 13 points across his last two appearances, AG stepped up and had his seventh game with at least 20 points since the All-Star break. Prior to the break, Gordon had just three 20-point games. Gordon has been able to fill whatever role the team needs him to, and while it wasn’t enough to get a win in this game, he needed to be a scorer. Denver will play San Antonio on Wednesday on the second night of a back-to-back. Gordon hasn’t played both legs of a back-to-back since February, and that likely won’t change against the Spurs.
