There had been rumblings that Varsho could return at some point over the weekend — and that’s still in play for Sunday — but with weather in the forecast on Saturday the Blue Jays didn’t want to push it. He’ll remain at Triple-A Buffalo and serve as their designated hitter on Friday night.

Despite the Braves facing a right-handed pitcher, White is making his second straight start over Alex Verdugo and his third in the last four games. White has slowed down since a hot first month of the season, which likely keeps him off fantasy radars outside of the deepest formats. However, it also seems like Alex Verdugo’s time as a starter in Atlanta is over.

The Phillies want to put Alec Bohm back at third base and disrupt his rhythm as little as possible. That means Kemp will play first base and be more directly connected to Harper’s return. When the Phillies’ star comes back, that likely means that Kemp, who is 3-for-14 in his four MLB games, could be sent back down.

It was quite an impressive day for Marsee, who was one of the prospects the Marlins acquired in the Luis Arraez trade. The 23-year-old now has 36 steals on the season; however, that also comes with a .210 batting average, .681 OPS, and just 16 RBI. The speed is enticing, but he’ll need to show more with the bat before he can be a real threat for MLB playing time.

Sánchez moved his rehab assignment up to Triple-A a week ago and has done nothing but hit since coming to Norfolk. It’s only a matter of time before he’s back in Baltimore, where he will serve as a backup catcher and likely designated hitter against left-handed pitching.

After struggling through a disappointing year in Double-A last season, Jordan has turned things around. He hit well enough in 44 games at Double-A to earn a promotion and has since gone 11-for-29 in seven games at Triple-A with one home run, six RBI, and a 4/1 K/BB ratio. The Red Sox are getting enough production from Abraham Toro and Romy Gonzalez at first base that there is no need to rush Jordan, but if the team falls out of contention, they could give the 22-year-old a chance at the end of the season to decide what their plan is for him in 2026.

Jones had been relegated to a strong-side platoon earlier in the season, but he has now started back-to-back games against left-handed starting pitchers and five of the last seven. Over his last 23 games, Jones is hitting .300 with 10 RBI, four runs scored, and a 13/1 K/BB ratio. While the batting average is nice, and the playing time is there, it would be good to see a bit more power out of Jones before we start to think about rostering him in most fantasy leagues.

Thomas returned from the IL and Monday and went 1-for-5 with a stolen base before being on the bench on Tuesday. It seems that the Guardians were just being cautious with Thomas in his first few games off the IL.

This was against a Triple-A Red Sox lineup that is now without Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony. There’s a lot of enthusiasm for Painter, and he remains a top-tier pitching prospect, but he hasn’t pitched since 2022 and has a 5.19 ERA in 26 innings at Triple-A this season. He’s likely the 6th starter in Philadelphia for the next month or so with Aaron Nola (ribs) suffering a setback; however, Painter will need to pitch a little better and also show that he can pitch on four days’ rest before he gets a call-up.

Hernández has always had plenty of talent in his arm, but he was unable to make the most of it as a starter in Kansas City and posted a 5.26 ERA in 25 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Phillies this season. Another team may take a gamble on his upper-90s fastball, or he could return to the Phillies’ minor league system.

The former starter has a 5.31 ERA in 20 1/3 innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A. He’s not on the fantasy radar and will just be organizational depth in Philadelphia.
