Josh Bell went 1-for-3 and drove in the Nationals’ lone run in Thursday night’s loss to the Orioles.
The 32-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the second inning as he ripped an RBI single into center to plate Amed Rosario. That would be his only hit in three trips to the plate. The early results have been pretty brutal for Bell, as he’s slashing a woeful .148/.258/.321 with four homers and 12 RBI in his first 93 plate appearances.

White Sox claimed RHP Ryan Cusick off waivers from the Tigers and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Cusick will join his third organization in a week, as he was claimed off waivers by the Tigers from the Athletics on Friday. The 25-year-old has a 6.32 ERA in the minors in 2025, and isn’t likely to make a fantasy splash anytime soon.
Blue Jays getting boost with Gimenez returning
With Andres Gimenez rejoining the Blue Jays lineup, Eric Samulski still sees value with the second baseman, particularly in stolen bases, and breaks down how his return affects the current lineup.
  • CWS 1st Baseman #30
White Sox recalled INF Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte.
Elko will take the roster spot of Lenyn Sosa after Sosa was placed on the injured list with a hip flexor strain. Elko should see some decent run with the White Sox now that he’s back on the roster, but it’s a tough sell from a fantasy perspective for a variety of reasons.
  • COL Catcher #15
Hunter Goodman tripled in a run and doubled Wednesday as the Rockies edged the Marlins 3-2 to complete a series sweep.
Goodman isn’t going to want to leave Miami. He hit .149/.184/.149 in his 13 games leading into the series against the Marlins, but he wound up going 7-for-13 with three homers and six extra-base hits over three games in South Florida. It’s even more impressive when factoring in that the Marlins shut down his teammates almost entirely; the Rockies scored only 12 runs in the series, and no one besides Goodman homered.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #21
Kyle Freeland got his first win after eight losses by pitching 6 1/3 innings and holding the Marlins to a pair of unearned runs Wednesday.
Both runs came in the seventh after an Orlando Arcia error got things started. Freeland gave up his third and fourth hits of the afternoon afterwards and was lifted. Fortunately, the Rockies pen was able to limit the damage from there. It’s the team’s second win in Freeman’s 13 outings this season. His ERA sits at 5.19, but he has a solid enough 52/13 K/BB in 67 2/3 innings. Freeland’s next start will come at home versus the Giants.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #40
Tyler Kinley recorded his second save Wednesday by pitching a perfect ninth against the Marlins.
The Rockies declined to use Seth Halvorsen for a third straight day after he got a save last night, so Kinley got the chance and converted it. Zach Agnos, currently on the bereavement list, will likely be back on Friday to reclaim the closer’s role in Colorado.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #47
Cal Quantrill dropped to 3-6 after allowing two runs in five innings Wednesday against the Rockies.
Quantrill surely would have liked a win against the team that dropped him in the offseason, but this rates as another respectable outing. He finished April with an 8.10 ERA, but he’s at 3.25 in six starts since the beginning of May. He’ll face the Pirates next week.
  • MIA Catcher #50
Agustín Ramírez finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.
Ramírez has seen his OPS sink to .761 while going 3-for-24 with no extra-base hits in his last six games and 12-for-64 with two extra-base hits over his last 14 games. He’ll certainly get hot again at some point and probably put up nice numbers for a catcher over the rest of the year, but those in one-catcher mixed leagues might want to move on to Tyler Stephenson or Gabriel Moreno.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #58
David Festa was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday for Triple-A St. Paul.
This seems to point to Festa getting the call Sunday against the Blue Jays to take Pablo López’s place after López left Tuesday against the Athletics with shoulder tightness. Festa is one of the top young arms in the Minnesota system, and he’s pitched well with a 1.38 ERA in his three starts with the Twins in 2025. He’s worthy of streaming consideration, assuming he does make that start, of course.
  • LAA Right Fielder #12
Jorge Soler left Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox with an apparent injury.
Soler has been replaced by Matthew Lugo in the outfield. No word has been given as to why Soler had to exit, but this is not likely to be transaction related. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #40
Phillies recalled Mick Abel from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Abel, 23, takes the roster spot of Zach Wheeler after Wheeler was placed on the paternity list, and he’ll make the start Wednesday against the Blue Jays. He was impressive in his MLB debut with six scoreless innings and nine strikeouts, and he’s worthy of streaming consideration for Wednesday’s tilt.
