Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Athletics on Tuesday.
The turnaround has to start somewhere. Perhaps a series in Sacramento helps. Burger led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Osvaldo Bido for his third homer of the season and his first since April 5. He also drew a walk in the contest. The 29-year-old slugger is batting .186/.230/.343 with the three homers and nine RBI across 74 plate appearances. Burger has always had a streaky profile, so hopefully Tuesday’s effort will get him going at the plate.

Michael Harris II homered and drove in two runs in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.
Alvarez looking 'more like himself' in Triple-A
Francisco Alvarez has found his bat in Triple-A after a "shocking," yet deserved demotion, and James Schiano details how the Mets catcher is looking "more like himself" after significant regression.
  • ATL 2nd Baseman #1
Ozzie Albies drove in five runs, stole a base and homered in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Trent Grisham hit a go-ahead grand slam in the ninth inning to help Atlanta to a 12-9 win over Atlanta on Saturday.
  • NYY Shortstop #11
Anthony Volpe hit two homers and drove in four runs in a comeback win for the Yankees on Saturday over Atlanta.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #33
Joey Wentz worked four scoreless innings while not factoring into the decision versus the Yankees on Saturday.
Wentz was excellent in his debut with Atlanta on Saturday, and he was solid again a week later He threw 38-of-59 pitches for strikes, and while he only struck out two, the southpaw kept the New York lineup off-balance throughout the contest while allowing just two hits. Wentz has earned at least another turn through the rotation, and he’ll be back on the bump against the Rangers on Friday.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #98
Austin Warren allowed five runs in just 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Saturday.
Warren was fortunate to avoid the loss, as he gave up a pair of homers among his five hits while walking three. He did strike out five, and that helped a poor start become a disaster. Warren had pitched well in his previous two outings, but this was a reminder that the command still needs a lot of work. He’s slated to face the Phillies next week.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte (personal) is expected to return to the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.
Marte is currently on the restricted list while dealing with a personal matter, but the expectation is the 31-year-old infielder will be activated before the series finale against St. Louis.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes left Saturday’s game against the Mariners with an apparent injury.
Paredes lined a ball off the left-field fence on a play that should have been an easy double, but the right-hander pulled up lame just short of first base and was unable to continue. There should be a status update before the conclusion of Saturday’s contest, but Zach Short has taken over for Paredes in the meantime.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #18
Shota Imanaga scattered five hits over seven innings in the Cubs’ 6-0 shutout of the Red Sox on Saturday.
Imanaga struck out five and walked one before former Red Sox relievers Brad Keller and Ryan Brasier finished up. His splitter was huge tonight; he got 10 whiffs on 27 pitches, and the hardest of the seven the Red Sox put in play was hit just 84 mph. Even though his strikeout rate is far down from last season, Imanaga is 7-3 with a 2.40 ERA through 13 starts. He’ll get the White Sox next.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #66
Brayan Bello yielded three runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.
Considering that Bello gave up homers to the very first two batters he faced (Michael Busch and Kyle Tucker), this turned out to be a pretty solid outing. He allowed only four singles afterwards, and he walked one and struck out four. The loss drops him to 6-4 with a 3.23 ERA, and he has another tough matchup against the Dodgers coming next week.
