Christian Yelich went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs scored in the Brewers’ 11-3 win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Yelich doubled in the third inning and scored on a base hit by William Contreras. He later came up in a big spot for the Brewers. With the bases loaded in the sixth, he took Lou Trivino deep for a grand slam that blew the game open. The 33-year-old outfielder is slashing .222/.337/.444 with five homers, 19 RBI, and five steals across 95 plate appearances.

Nationals recalled RHP Riley Cornelio from Triple-A Rochester.
He’ll take the place of Cole Henry on the club’s active roster. It remains to be seen how the Nationals plan to utilize Cornelio this time around. After being used almost exclusively as a starter in the minors, he was used in a bulk role out of the bullpen the last time he was recalled by the Nats. The 26-year-old holds a 4.87 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 64/26 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings in 11 appearances (nine starts) at the Triple-A level this season.
PCA showing signs of offensive breakout in June
James Schiano discusses the improvement that Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has made on offense in recent weeks, including the .455 batting average and 1.409 OPS he has posted in his last five games.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #5
Brandon Lowe (leg) was held out of the Pirates’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Braves.
Lowe was pulled from Saturday’s game after he fouled a ball off of his leg in the ninth inning. The 31-year-old slugger told reporters on Sunday that he believes he avoided any serious injuries and is optimistic that he’ll be able to return to the lineup in a couple of days. As of now, it seems like he’ll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list after the scary situation on Saturday night.
  • STL Shortstop #0
Masyn Winn is absent from the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s divisional showdown against the Reds.
Winn gets a much-needed breather after playing every inning in each of the team’s last 15 ballgames. He has seen his offensive performance fall off substantially once again this season, slashing just .236/.318/.322 with only two homers, 24 RBI and five stolen bases through his first 239 plate appearances. Jose Fermin will start in his place at shortstop and bat seventh for the Cardinals on Sunday against Reds’ right-hander Rhett Lowder.
  • STL Shortstop #26
JJ Wetherholt (groin) returned to the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s contest against the Reds.
The dynamic 23-year-old rookie missed each of the previous two games due to groin soreness, but he’s right back in there at second base and hitting atop the Cardinals’ lineup against Reds’ right-hander Rhett Lowder on Sunday. Wetherholt is slashing .249/.357/.400 with nine homers, 25 RBI, 40 runs scored and seven stolen bases through his first 266 plate appearances with the Cardinals.
  • BAL Catcher #29
Samuel Basallo (abdomen) returned to the Orioles’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Blue Jays.
Basallo was pulled from Friday’s game due to right abdominal discomfort, but he appeared as a pinch hitter on Saturday and now finds himself back behind the dish for Sunday’s series finale. The 21-year-old backstop has hit a solid .272/.337/.491 with nine homers and 26 RBI through his first 193 plate appearances with the O’s this season.
  • CIN Designated Hitter #28
Eugenio Suárez is not in the Reds’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cardinals.
Suárez had started each of the team’s previous 11 games, so the 34-year-old slugger has certainly earned a day off. Sal Stewart will slide over and cover third base, Spencer Steer will start at first and Nathaniel Lowe will function as the team’s designated hitter on Sunday afternoon against Cardinals’ right-hander Michael McGreevy.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Jose Altuve is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics.
Altuve just returned from a lengthy stay on the injured list on Friday, so it appears that the Astros are simply easing him back into full-time action. Nick Allen will start in his place at second base and will bat ninth for the Astros against A’s left-hander Gage Jump on Sunday afternoon in Houston.
  • ATH Center Fielder
Henry Bolte is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s showdown against the Astros.
It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 22-year-old outfielder. Lawrence Butler will start in his place in center field and will bat sixth for the A’s against Astros’ right-hander Mike Burrows.
  • TB Left Fielder #14
Chandler Simpson (thumb) was held out of the Rays’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Marlins.
It’s the second straight game that Simpson has missed due to a thumb contusion that has been bothering him throughout the week. It still doesn’t sound like something that’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers should be sure to monitor his status on Monday just to be on the safe side. Ryan Vilade will start in his place in left field and will bat seventh against Marlins’ right-hander Sandy Alcantara on Sunday.
  • SEA Shortstop #3
J.P. Crawford (hand) was held out of the Mariners’ lineup for the second consecutive game for Sunday’s series finale against the Tigers in Detroit.
Crawford was drilled on the hand by Framber Valdez on Friday night and has now missed each of the next two games. While X-rays came back negative for any fractures, he’s still dealing with a bit of pain and swelling in his hand. Colt Emerson will once again slide over and cover shortstop while Patrick Wisdom will start at third base and bat seventh for the M’s.
