Spencer Schwellenbach didn’t qualify for a decision after allowing three runs — two earned — in seven innings Monday against Atlanta with five strikeouts.
Schwellenbach generated just nine swings and misses over seven innings, but after allowing two RBI singles in the second, the 24-year-old right-hander kept the Cards off the board. It’s a vast improvement over his struggles against the Blue Jays last time out, and it lowers his ERA to a very strong 2.56 for the campaign. He’s back on the bump against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, and he’s quickly become a starter who needs to be in fantasy lineups regardless of the opponent.
