White Sox OF prospect Braden Montgomery went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored for Single-A Kannapolis on Tuesday.
One of the centerpieces of the Garrett Crochet trade with Boston, Montgomery is off to a great start to his White Sox career, hitting .353/.415/.618 in nine games with two home runs, 13 RBI and three steals. He was one of the more advanced hitters in the 2024 draft and could be a quick riser through the White Sox system.

Brenton Doyle remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Orioles.
Doyle will sit out his fourth consecutive game on Sunday afternoon. There’s been zero indication that he’s dealing with any sort of physical issue. It’ll be Mickey Moniak in center field in his ongoing absence.
Jones' power production can't be ignored
James Schiano evaluates the potential of New York Yankees top prospect Spencer Jones, explaining why the 24-year-old outfielder's power production can't be ignored as he's compiled 29 home runs in the minors this season.
  • ATH Shortstop #5
Jacob Wilson (hand) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Astros.
Wilson will get his second straight day off as he continues to battle a hand contusion that he suffered prior to the All-Star break when he was hit by a pitch. The Athletics are clearly hoping that some additional time off for their outstanding rookie shortstop will put the issue to bed. There’s been no indication that he’ll require a trip to the injured list at this juncture.
  • ATH 1st Baseman #16
Nick Kurtz is out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Astros.
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay told reporters Kurtz is getting a break on Sunday afternoon because he’s been “doing a lot of running lately” and is dealing with some general soreness in his lower half, but is available off the bench, if needed. The 22-year-old rookie sensation has been tearing the cover off the ball since returning from the injured list back on June 9, batting .349 (52-for-149) with 18 home runs, 44 RBI and two steals in 39 games during that span.
  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Luis Robert Jr. (groin) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cubs.
Robert is back at DH and batting seventh following a two-game absence due to groin tightness. The 27-year-old center fielder figures to be on the move at some point ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline and could certainly benefit from a change of scenery. The encouraging news here is that he’s feeling healthy enough to get back on the field and has been on a bit of a hot streak since returning from the injured list back in late June.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #62
Royals recalled RHP Jonathan Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha.
Bowlan was up with Kansas City for Saturday’s doubleheader against Cleveland and will remain in the big leagues in the wake of starter Kris Bubic hitting the injured list with a rotator cuff strain. The 28-year-old righty holds a respectable 4.93 ERA over 23 2/3 innings (17 appearances) this season in the big leagues.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #50
Royals placed LHP Kris Bubic on the 15-day injured list with a left rotator cuff strain.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Bubic will undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the strain after experiencing shoulder stiffness during Saturday’s doubleheader against the Guardians. The 27-year-old southpaw has been one of the biggest breakthrough arms in the fantasy landscape this season with a pristine 2.55 ERA and 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings (20 starts). There should be a definitive return timetable at some point in the coming days.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Blake Snell (shoulder) will make his next start in the majors.
Snell’s impending return pushes Los Angeles to a six-man rotation for the next couple weeks with Shohei Ohtani starting the next two Wednesday’s against the Reds and Cardinals, respectively. The 32-year-old southpaw is on track to make his first start since April 2 on Friday against the Rays after tossing 4 2/3 shutout frames on Saturday in his final rehab outing for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #6
Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Red Sox.
As expected, Kim will take a seat as the Dodgers attempt to manage a lingering shoulder issue that he’s been playing through. There’s been no indication that he’s at risk of landing on the injured list, but that remains a possibility if he’s not feeling better in a couple days.
  • LAD Right Fielder #50
Mookie Betts is back in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Red Sox.
Betts is back at shortstop and leading off Sunday afternoon’s showdown at familiar Fenway Park following a two-game absence due to a personal issue, although he did strike out as a pinch-hitter to end Saturday’s game. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart has been mired in an extended offensive tailspin for several weeks and hasn’t shown too many signs that he’s coming out of it. He’ll continue batting leadoff for a loaded Dodgers’ lineup until Max Muncy (knee) is back from the injured list at some point in August.
  • BAL Catcher #35
Adley Rutschman (oblique) will be activated from the injured list for Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino confirmed Sunday that Rutschman will complete his rehab assignment this weekend and rejoin the team for Monday’s series opener at Camden Yards. The 27-year-old’s first career injured list stint in late June plunged Baltimore’s catching situation into complete disarray. Even if he’s been underwhelming at the plate this season from a fantasy perspective, his return should provide a stabilizing presence behind the dish.
