  • BAL 3rd Baseman #16

Coby Mayo went 2-for-2 with three walks and a solo home run for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.
Mayo had a poor start to the season after expressing frustration following his demotion to Triple-A; however, he is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak in which he has gone 9-for-25 (.360) with two home runs, eight RBI, and a 7:6 K:BB ratio. If he keeps hitting like this, he’ll force the Orioles to either find a spot for him or trade him for an established pitcher.

Geraldo Perdomo hit his fourth homer and swiped two bases Sunday in the Diamondbacks’ 6-4 defeat of the Braves.
Perdomo’s homer was his only hit, but he had an RBI groundout in the first and he swiped second and third after reaching on a fielder’s choice in the seventh. One of the year’s nicest fantasy surprises, he has four homers, 21 RBI and six steals through 28 games. However, he still figures to return to the bottom of the Arizona lineup after Ketel Marte is activated, which will likely cost him much of his fantasy value.
Pirates' Heaney worth a fantasy rotation spot
Eric Samulski pops the hood on Andrew Heaney's impressive start for the Pittsburgh Pirates to explain why he's worth adding to fantasy rosters for spot-starts in good matchups.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #32
Brandon Pfaadt allowed three runs — two earned — over six innings and struck out six in a win over the Braves on Sunday.
Pfaadt spent much of the day pitching his way out of trouble while giving up nine hits and improved to 5-1 with a 2.78 ERA. His peripherals don’t really back up the strong record, making him a potential sell-high candidate. Still, we’d expect his peripherals to improve, even if his ERA climbs some in the process. He’ll make his next start in Philadelphia.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #63
Justin Martinez picked up his third save despite allowing a run in the ninth Sunday against the Braves.
Martinez opened the inning with a hit by pitch and a walk. He induced a double-play ball afterwards, but he then allowed an RBI double and a second walk before getting fly to center to end the game. Often very wild in the minors, Martinez has been quite a bit better than expected in that area as a major leaguer, particularly in opening this season with an 11/2 K/BB in nine innings. Especially with A.J. Puk out, it’d be bad if his control started to wane now.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #56
Spencer Schwellenbach surrendered four runs — three earned — in six innings Sunday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Schwellenbach got 16 missed swings in a six-strikeout day, but he also gave up 10 hard-hit balls, including a Geraldo Perdomo homer. Schwellenbach’s last three starts haven’t been nearly as impressive as his first three. He’s still a fine bet going forward, but he might not be a true fantasy ace just yet. He’ll take on the Dodgers next.
  • ATL Center Fielder #8
Alex Verdugo finished 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a walk against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Verdugo already has two four-hit games for the Braves, though he’s 4-for-28 in his other six contests. He isn’t the worst option in mixed leagues for teams looking more for batting average than homers or steals. However, his limitations in those categories hold him back from sporting real value.
  • CWS Center Fielder #92
The White Sox have promoted top outfield prospect Braden Montgomery from Single-A Kannapolis to High-A Winston-Salem.
It’s certainly a well-deserved promotion. All the 22-year-old outfielder did at Kannapolis was slash .304/.393/.493 with three homers, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in his first 18 games. Let’s see how quickly he can progress through the next level as he inches closer to the big leagues.
  • TB Center Fielder #14
Chandler Simpson went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a steal Sunday in the Rays’ 4-2 win over the Padres.
Only one steal? Simpson’s three singles were produced by two grounders and one liner. The highest exit velocity of the bunch was 92.6 mph. Still, he’s off to a 12-for-30 start with three steals in four tries. He needs to be active in mixed leagues for as long as he stays in the Rays lineup.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #52
Zack Littell yielded two runs in five innings Sunday against the Padres to finally win for the first this season.
Littell had already turned in three quality starts, but the Rays totaled five runs in his first five appearances, leaving him 0-4. Although Littell struck out just one today, he showed his best velocity of the season, averaging 92.9 mph with his fastball. If that holds up, he’ll be a better streaming option when he has favorable matchups. Next weekend’s start in Yankee Stadium does not apply.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #29
Pete Fairbanks turned in a perfect ninth against the Padres for his sixth save Sunday.
Fairbanks retired Xander Bogaerts, Oscar Gonzalez and Yuli Gurriel in order. He has a win and three saves over the last four days. Fortunately, the Rays don’t play tomorrow, since Fairbanks would surely be unavailable if they did.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vásquez lasted 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs Sunday in a loss to the Rays.
Vásquez struck out just one today. Because he’d completely evaded the home run ball until giving up one to Taylor Walls, of all people, today, he’s managed a respectable 4.28 ERA in spite of a horrible 9/17 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings this season. His rotation spot really ought to be hanging on by a thread.
