Braves optioned RHP Michael Petersen to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Petersen was called up on Sunday to fill a bullpen spot with Aaron Bummer on the bereavement list. He threw two scoreless innings against the Rays but will now head back to Triple-A with Bummer returning to Atlanta. Petersen should get another shot in Atlanta this year.

Janson Junk allowed six runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Marlins’ 13-12 victory over the Yankees on Friday.
Perkins, Lawlar winners at MLB trade deadline
Eric Samulski explains why Jack Perkins and Jordan Lawlar are two of the biggest winners from the MLB's trade deadline and discusses their respective outlooks for the rest of the season.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #55
Carlos Rodon allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday.
  • LAD Catcher #16
Will Smith went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a double against the Rays on Friday.
Smith doubled in the first inning and scored on Freddie Freeman’s two-run single. The 30-year-old backstop continues to have an outstanding season. Smith is hitting .325 with a .969 OPS and 50 RBI this year. He’s been one of the most impactful catchers in fantasy.
  • TB Right Fielder #21
Jonny DeLuca went 2-for-4 against the Dodgers on Friday.
While Chandler’s injury doesn’t appear to be serious, DeLuca got the start and had two hits Friday against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old outfielder would be an option for fantasy managers that need steals if he were to see regular playing time.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI against the Rays on Friday.
Freeman’s home run was his 12th of the year. He hit a solo shot off Shane Baz in the fifth inning. The 35-year-old first baseman has now hit 34 home runs in 244 games since the start of the 2024 season. He’s hitting .299 with an .853 OPS and 59 RBI on the season.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #11
Shane Baz allowed five runs in five innings and took the loss against the Dodgers on Friday.
Baz gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out eight. Friday’s outing was a bit of a mixed bag for Baz, who struck out eight batters, but allowed multiple runs in the first and fourth innings. The 26-year-old right-hander then allowed a solo home run to Freddie Freeman in the fifth inning. Baz has a 4.79 ERA and 124/46 K/BB ratio in 124 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Angels on the road next week.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw tossed six scoreless innings and got the win in the Dodgers’ 5-0 victory over the Rays on Friday.
Kershaw gave up five hits, walked none and struck out three. The win was the 217th in the 37-year-old left-hander’s career. Kershaw was staked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and kept the Rays off the scoreboard for six innings. He has a 3.29 ERA and 42/18 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 innings in 13 starts this year. Kershaw is lined up to face the Cardinals at home next week.
  • BOS Center Fielder #19
Roman Anthony went 2-for-5 with a walk-off RBI on Friday in a 2-1 win over the Astros.
In his fifth straight start out of the lead-off spot, Anthony was the hero for the Red Sox. Behind 1-0 for most of this game, they scratched across a single run without a hit in the seventh inning against Hunter Brown, held the Astros’ scoreless in the top of the 10th, and then Anthony won it when he blasted a ‘single’ over Chas McCormick’s head in center field. Him and Nick Kurtz are as impressive a pair of rookies that we’ve seen in the same season in recent memory.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #64
Cooper Criswell scattered seven hits and allowed one run with two walks and four strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Friday.
Called up just a few days ago for this spot start, Criswell did everything he could to give his Red Sox a chance to win this game. His seven innings pitched tied a career-high and he was in complete control for this entire game besides a solo home run from Christian Walker that cleared the Green Monster. It is unclear if he’ll get another turn in the rotation after the addition of Dustin May at the trade deadline.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #8
Christian Walker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Friday against the Red Sox.
The Astros’ offense was stymied by the combination of Cooper Criswell and Boston’s bullpen here. Walker’s solo home run in the second inning was the only home run they’d score as they wasted a fantastic start from Hunter Brown. While it’s been a disappointing first season in Houston for Walker, he had an .833 OPS in July and could have a nice hot streak in him to end the season.
