Spencer Schwellenbach was hit hard in Tuesday night’s loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering six runs on six hits in his 4 2/3 innings of work.
The right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the ballgame while striking out three. He had limited the Jays to just one run through the first four innings, but the wheels fell off for him in the fifth as Alan Roden crushed a two-run homer and Anthony Santander added a three-run shot. Schwellenbach got 11 swings and misses on 86 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 18 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he brings a 2.55 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 22/5 K/BB ratio (24 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals.
