Austin Riley went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.
Riley deposited a seventh inning home run off of Joe Ross 417 feet at 107.6 mph off the bat. He also added a 105.4 mph single in the ninth inning. Riley now has two home runs and five RBI on the season and is starting to heat up a bit over the last few games.

Royce Lewis (hamstring) is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s contest against the Astros.
The encouraging news, at least as of now, is that Lewis hasn’t been placed on the injured list after exiting Friday’s affair with a left hamstring strain. There’s still plenty of time before first pitch though for a move to occur. Kody Clemens will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat eighth against Astros’ right-hander Hunter Brown on Saturday.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • HOU Left Fielder #67
Ari Alexander of KPRC2 in Houston reports that the Astros plan to promote Cooper Hummel from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday.
There have already been reports that the Astros plan to add Luis Guillorme to their roster on Saturday as well, so this could mean that both Isaac Paredes and Jacob Melton could be heading to the injured list. Stay tuned, as we should get confirmation on the official moves shortly.
  • MIA Shortstop #9
Xavier Edwards is not in the Marlins’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s showdown against the Nationals.
It looks to be a routine day off for the speedy 25-year-old infielder, though it’s a bit surprising considering Edwards is 6-for-7 (.857) in his career against Nationals’ right-hander Trevor Williams. Javier Sanoja will start in his place at second base and bat ninth for the Marlins on Saturday.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #35
Justin Verlander (pectoral) threw 65 pitches in a simulated game without issue on Wednesday and could rejoin the Giants’ starting rotation during the club’s upcoming series against the Guardians.
To do so, the Giants would need to bump Kyle Harrison from their starting rotation, which could be a tough call with the left-hander pitching well. The Giants could also have Verlander make one tune-up in the minor leagues before bringing him back. Stay tuned, as there should be more clarity to the situation before the weekend is through.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #65
Nationals recalled RHP Ryan Loutos from Triple-A Rochester.
The 26-year-old hurler was just claimed off of waivers from the Dodgers on Tuesday. He’ll get his first opportunity to work out of the Nationals’ bullpen with Andrew Chafin (hamstring) heading to the injured list. Loutos has registered a 15.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 2/2 K/BB ratio over three innings at the big league level this season.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #53
Nationals placed LHP Andrew Chafin on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with a right hamstring strain.
The Nationals had been hopeful that Chafin’s hamstring issue was minor and that he could work through it without requiring a trip to the injured list, but after playing with a shorthanded bullpen for a couple of nights the decision was made to make a move. Ryan Loutos was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to take his place in the Nats’ bullpen.
  • Christian Encarnacion-Strand is absent from the Reds’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s tilt against the Tigers in Motown.
It looks to be just a routine day off for the 25-year-old first baseman who has slashed an impressive .310/.344/.655 with three homers and seven RBI in seven games since returning from the injured list. Spencer Steer will start in his place at first base and will bat sixth for the Reds against Jack Flaherty and the Tigers on Saturday.
  • DET 1st Baseman #20
Spencer Torkelson is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s showdown against the Reds.
The 25-year-old slugger has cooled considerably over the past few weeks, slashing .209/.320/.372 with two homers, five RBI and a 12/6 K/BB ratio over 50 plate appearances in his last 12 games. Colt Keith will start in his place at first base and will bat sixth for the Tigers against Reds’ right-hander Brady Singer on Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #58
Cade Gibson will serve as an opener for the Marlins on Saturday afternoon against the Nationals.
The 27-year-old southpaw has been filthy for the Marlins this season, registering a minuscule 0.93 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 12/5 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings in his first 12 appearances. He hasn’t thrown more than 21 pitches in an outing since mid-May, so don’t expect him to work very deeply into Saturday’s game. More than likely he’s just there to get through the tough left-handed bats at the top of the Nationals’ lineup the first time through. Anticipate Janson Junk to follow him in a bulk role on Saturday.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #6
Jonathan India was pulled from Friday night’s contest against the Athletics due to a shoulder injury.
India sustained the injury while diving for a ball behind second base. He remained in the game initially to finish the inning but was subsequently replaced the next time the Royals took the field. Expect him to undergo additional testing to find out exactly what’s going on there. The Royals should have an update on his status before Saturday’s battle against the A’s.
