Hader took the mound in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied to try to extend the game. He struck out two batters in a clean frame. Hader returned for the tenth and struck out two more to send it to the 11th. Steven Okert got the save in the 12th inning with a one-run lead.

The Phillies have yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against Washington. Nola threw 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in a rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. You get where this is going. It’s not a lock that Nola makes that start, but all signs point to him making his return to the Philadelphia rotation this weekend.

Carter missed just-over the minimum 10-day stint while dealing with back spasms. He should be an everyday option — with the occasional day of rest, of course — now that he’s back. The question is if these back issues are going to linger in not just 2025, but beyond.
