Shane Baz pitched well in a no-decision against the Angels on Tuesday night, allowing just two runs on three hits across seven frames.
Baz racked up six strikeouts on the evening, though he also issued four free passes. The only blemish on his day came on a two-run homer by Kyren Paris in the second inning that went just over the outstretched glove of Christopher Morel. The 25-year-old right-hander got eight swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 21 percent. Baz exited with a 3-2 lead and in line for a victory, but the Rays’ bullpen was unable to hang on for him. He’ll carry an impressive 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 16/4 K/BB ratio (13 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Braves.
