The right-hander punched out five opposing hitters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The damage done against him came in the form of an RBI double by Brendan Donovan in the first inning and an RBI single by Masyn Winn in the fourth. The Red Sox staked him to a huge early lead, so all Dobbins needed to do was keep the train on the tracks to earn a victory in this one. He’ll head back to Triple-A Worcester after this start, where he’ll continue to hone his craft until he’s called upon once more.

Suárez mashed his 20th homer of the season in the fourth inning to give the Diamondbacks a 3-1 lead. The 33-year-old also drew a walk to improve his slash to .231/.307/.518 along with 55 RBI over 70 games.

The D-Backs entered the ninth inning trailing 7-3 with the normally-excellent Robert Suarez on the mound. Didn’t matter. With the bases full, Perdomo smoked a triple into right field to tie the game at 7-7. One batter later, Josh Naylor bounced into a fielder’s choice with Perdomo safe at the plate for the impressive win. He’s now up to 49 RBI over 70 games, and he’s slashed a solid 271/.366/.429 over his 243 at-bats.

Disaster. Suarez wasn’t even pitching in a save situation, as he entered with a 7-3 lead. The normally reliable closer gave up five hits, including a game-tying three-run triple to Geraldo Perdomo. Suarez will remain the closer for the Padres, but fantasy managers will need a lot of good work from him to make up for this mess. His ERA increased from 1.78 to 3.23 just from this outing. Not great.

Gallen held the Diamondbacks to just one run over six innings, but things fell apart in the seventh. He loaded the bases before exiting, and Ryan Thompson allowed all three runs to score to turn an excellent start into a middling effort. The control was shaky throughout the contest with four walks, but he did strike out six in an effort that was better than the box score suggests. it still pushes his ERA to 5.19, and Gallen will try and build on the good moments against the lowly Rockies on Friday.

Bergert gave up all three runs in the fourth, and they all came on a three-run homer by Eugenio Suárez. Outside of that frame the 25-year-old pitched well while allowing just three hits with two walks against the eight punchouts. Bergert has looked the part in his starts, but he’ll have his hands full against the Dodgers next week.

Buxton told reporters after the game that he “didn’t feel good” but believes he avoided a long-term injury. The contusion occurred when he was plunked by a pitch, and while he stayed in the game initially, he was unable to continue. Buxton may get Sunday off, but should be back in the lineup in the coming days.

He is human, afterall. Judge struck out twice against Hunter Dobbins in his second consecutive three-strikeout evening. It’s disappointing, but considering the 33-year-old saw his numbers ‘drop’ to .384/.479/.767, it’d be pretty foolish to complain for too long.

Story doubled the lead for Boston to 2-0 with his double in the second inning to score Carlos Narváez. His second of the double of the game gives him seven on the season, and improves his slash to a still-middling .234/.278/.362.

It’s the second save of the season for Weissert. He came in to protect a two-run cushion, so a fielder’s choice off the bat of Anthony Volpe that scored Paul Goldschmidt didn’t hurt the Red Sox; just Weissert’s ERA. It seems unlikely he’ll get many more save chances, but that’s two in the last week.

Impressive. Dobbins struck out five, and two of those punchouts came against Aaron Judge. He gave up only two hits — both singles — and issued one walk while throwing 52-of-82 pitches for strikes. Dobbins has been a quality find for the Boston rotation, and now has a 3.74 ERA and 42/11 K/BB for his trouble over 55 1/3 innings. Assuming the rotation order doesn’t change, he’s set to face off against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday.
