  • PIT Designated Hitter #22

With Bryan Reynolds limited to DH duties by triceps soreness, Andrew McCutchen is making his first start of the year in the outfield on Friday.
Right field, specifically. Because Reynolds is trying to play through the injury, McCutchen, who is quite the liability in the outfield these days, was out of the lineup for Pittsburgh’s previous three games. It might be best for everyone if Reynolds just took a seat and tried to heal up, since he hasn’t helped while slugging .226 in 33 plate appearances.

Marlins sent RHP Patrick Monteverde outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
The 27-year-old hurler made one appearance with the Marlins, giving up four runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work while striking out four. He’ll continue to hone his craft at the Triple-A level until he’s needed by the Marlins once again.
Giants' Doval could provide fantasy insurance
Eric Samulski weighs in on Camilo Doval and why the former National League saves leader could provide fantasy insurance for struggling San Francisco Giants closer Ryan Walker.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Matt Chapman went 1-for-5 and clubbed a two-run homer on Thursday as the Giants rallied to beat the Brewers 6-5.
The 31-year-old slugger tagged Abner Uribe for a 411-foot (105.1 mph EV) two-run blast in the fifth inning that pulled the Giants to within a run at 5-4. That would be his only hit on the afternoon. On the season, Chapman is now slashing .230/.396/.448 with five homers, 16 RBI and three stolen bases.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #75
Camilo Doval picked up his fifth save of the season on Thursday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run lead against the Brewers.
Doval didn’t make it easy on himself, issuing a leadoff walk to Caleb Durbin to put the tying run on base. He rallied though, getting Brice Turang and Sal Frelick on fly balls to left field before allowing a single to Christian Yelich. Doval then battled back and got Rhys Hoskins on a fly ball to center to end it. He has proven to be a capable option in the ninth inning and with Ryan Walker struggling, it looks like he may start to see additional opportunities. The 27-year-old hurler should be scooped up in any fantasy leagues where he may still be available, preferably as a handcuff for Walker.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #65
Landen Roupp was knocked around in a no-decision against the Brewers on Thursday, surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits in only 3 2/3 innings.
Roupp also issued three free passes while striking out a pair of batters on the day. The Brewers scratched out a run against him in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and added another in the second on a wild pitch. The Brewers then broke the game open in the fourth by pushing three more runs across and chasing Roupp from the game. The right-hander got just five swings and misses on 78 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to bounce back and improve upon his 4.91 ERA and 1.52 WHIP when he does battle against the Padres in San Diego on Wednesday.
  • MIL Left Fielder #5
Garrett Mitchell singled, walked, stole a pair of bases and scored a run on Thursday as the Brewers dropped a heartbreaker to the Giants.
Mitchell used his wheels to manufacture a run in the second inning, as he worked Landen Roupp for a leadoff walk, stole second base, advanced to third on a ground ball and scampered home on a wild pitch. He also singled with two outs in the eighth inning and swiped second base but was left stranded there. On the season, the 26-year-old outfielder is hitting a disappointing .209/.289/.299 with zero homers, three RBI and three stolen bases.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #12
Rhys Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a double and drew a walk as the Brewers fell to the Giants on Thursday afternoon.
Hoskins singled with two outs in the opening inning but wound up getting stranded at third base. He then smacked a two-out double in the third inning, but once again the Brewers were unable to cash him in. With his two-hit attack, the 32-year-old first baseman is now hitting a robust .286/.393/.443 with three long balls, 12 RBI and a stolen base.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #36
Tobias Myers pitched decently in a no-decision against the Giants in his 2025 season debut on Thursday, giving up two runs on four hits over his four innings of work.
The 26-year-old hurler struggled with his command in this one, issuing four free passes, while striking out a pair. The Giants got him for a run in the opening inning on an RBI double by Jung Hoo Lee, then Mike Yastrzemski tagged him for a solo shot in the third inning. Myers generated seven swings and misses on 82 pitches on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 17 percent. He should be able to work deeper into the game his next time out against the White Sox on Wednesday in Chicago.
  • ATH Left Fielder #25
Brent Rooker is absent from the Athletics’ lineup for the first time this season on Thursday night against the Rangers.
If you’re going to have to sit out a game, doing so against Jacob deGrom makes plenty of sense. Seth Brown will function as the A’s designated hitter on Thursday evening and will bat sixth against the Rangers’ right-hander.
  • ATH Left Fielder #22
Miguel Andujar is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup for Thursday night’s showdown against the Rangers.
It’s the second straight game that Andujar has found himself on the pine, coinciding with the promotion of Nick Kurtz from Triple-A. It looks like he’s going to see the biggest negative impact there in terms of playing time, which is frustrating for fantasy managers who may be relying on him. The 30-year-old has hit .319/.360/.435 with one homer and nine RBI through his first 75 plate appearances on the season.
  • KC Catcher #13
Salvador Perez doubled twice and drove in two runs as the Royals topped the Rockies 7-4 in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader.
On the short list of the game’s unluckiest hitters this season, Perez entered today with a .185 average and a .293 slugging percentage that were way, way lower than his .283 xBA and .559 xSLG. He has 11 barrels and two home runs. Today’s line-drive doubles left his bat at 106 and 102 mph. He’s back in the lineup for the second game as a DH after catching the first game this afternoon.
